Uyuni - After a 45-minute flight, guests will arrive at Joya Andina de Uyuni Airport, where they will meet their professional bilingual guide and private driver. A delightful American buffet breakfast awaits at one of the area’s most popular cafes.
Colchani - Colchani is home to 580 residents whose livelihoods are tied to salt extraction, agriculture (notably quinoa), crafts, and tourism. It is a must-stop on the way to the magnificent Uyuni salt flat. Unique to the area are small houses constructed from salt bricks, and attractions include the salt factory and craft stalls on the main street.
Activities:
- Purchase handicrafts at the heart of Colchani.
- Visit the salt processor and the Salt Museum in Colchani.
- View the first Salt Hotel “Playa Blanca,” now the main salt museum in the area.
Uyuni Salt Flat - The next destination is the captivating Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt desert in the world, covering over 10,000 square kilometers and situated at 3,653 meters above sea level in the Bolivian altiplano. At the southeast end, visit the salt mounds formed from saline extraction. This process involves marking the area, manually breaking up the salt, and drying it in small pyramid shapes under the sun.
Isla Incahuasi - The guide will lead guests to Incahuasi Island, known for its high-altitude location and soil composed of fossils of algae, mollusks, and other organisms called stromatolites. Cactaceous plants thrive here. It is centrally located, 74 km from Colchani, with a steep surface of 24 hectares and a peak 40 meters above the salt level.
Uyuni Salt Flat - The visit will highlight the cultural heritage of the Salar de Uyuni:
- Salt Stairway: Designed for capturing photographs with special optical effects, this saline ensemble is breathtakingly beautiful.
- Dakar Rally Monument and the endless forest of flags: Observe flags from around the world, with Bolivia’s central symbol, the heart of Latin America.
- Salt Pyramid: From here, view the mountains on the horizon, dwarfed by the vast salt plateau.
- Polygons and Ojos de Sal: On the Salar’s surface, discover the ojos de brine, small holes with sharp, needle-like crystals, accompanied by polygonal figures in the vast whiteness.
Camino al Volcán Tunupa - The tour continues to the Thunupa Volcano and its surroundings, with sightings of Andean Flamingos and panoramic views of the Salar de Uyuni. Learn about the history and myths of this mysterious attraction, where, according to local lore, mountains once walked, talked, and took human forms.
Enjoy a special toast in the middle of the Salar de Uyuni with sandwiches and hot drinks while witnessing a stunning sunset, painted with surreal colors and landscapes. Truly a special and unforgettable experience.
Tahua - Eye of Partridge
Laguna Hedionda - The stinking lagoon is a salty lake near the Salar de Uyuni, famous for its migratory pink and white flamingos. It has a high saline content of 80% and an average depth of just under a foot.
Laguna Canapa - This lagoon exhibits a yellow hue in its waters. Accessible by vehicle, visitors can observe waterfowl species such as Andean ducks and huallatas.
Salar de Chiguana - Cross the Salar de Chiguana, another salt formation bordering Chile, surrounded by volcanoes in shades of gray, silver, red, and white. The site features a railway from Abaroa Station to Uyuni.

Arbol de Piedra - An isolated volcanic rock formation in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, eroded by wind-blown sand, symbolizes the Siloli desert and serves as the entrance to the REA. This natural monument resembles a stunted tree about 7m high. Winter temperatures average between -20°C and -25°C.
Geiser Sol de la Manana - The Sol de Mañana region is known for intense geothermal and volcanic activity. This geothermal area in Bolivia is at an altitude of approximately 4990 masl. The “geyser basin” spans about 1 km2 and is mainly a collection of clay pots.
Desierto Dali - The sandy desert’s rocks and colorful surrounding mountains create a surreal landscape reminiscent of Salvador Dali’s paintings, earning it the nickname “Dalí’s desert.” Surreal volcanic rocks in various shades and shapes surround visitors.
Laguna Verde - Laguna Verde is noted for its emerald green color, due to high copper and arsenic content in the area’s geological formations. On its shores, large black volcanic stones and other rocks emerge from the earth’s interior.
Laguna Colorada - The colors of Laguna Colorada are striking, with water tinted deep orange-red by red algae and other microorganisms. The salty lagoon is dotted with large white pools from borax deposits on the surface. Combined with rolling mountains and rugged rocky coastlines, Laguna Colorada is a pristine and beautiful wildlife area. Declared Bolivia’s first RAMSAR site in June 1990, it is one of the most important wetlands in the region, country, and world, home to diverse fauna, including a rare breed of flamingos that have flocked here for centuries.
Uyuni - At approximately 7:10 PM, guests will return to Joya Andina de Uyuni Airport in a private 4x4 vehicle, concluding the journey back to La Paz by flight.
La Paz Department - Upon landing at El Alto International Airport, the team will ensure guests are transported to their hotel in La Paz, Bolivia.
