Embracing Nature: A Day of Yoga and Forest Bathing
As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for unique experiences that can offer a sense of peace and connection with nature. When I heard about the Yoga & Forest Bathing Day Retreat in Bolney, I knew it was something I had to try. The idea of spending a day immersed in nature, practicing yoga, and exploring the forest sounded like the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
A Warm Welcome and a Scenic Start
Arriving at Stonerocks Farm, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the surroundings. Over 100 acres of private land, filled with wildflowers, ancient woodlands, and rolling hills, awaited exploration. Our host, Xenia, greeted us with a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm for the area. Her passion for nature and the activities planned for the day was truly contagious.
We began with a gentle walk to a hilltop, where we would practice outdoor yoga. The path was lined with bluebells and other woodland flowers, creating a picturesque setting that felt like something out of a fairy tale. The walk was just the right pace, accommodating both inexperienced walkers and those with mobility issues. As we reached the top, the view was nothing short of spectacular, and the savasana in the sunshine, watched over by buzzards and bees, was a perfect reminder of how to be one with nature.
Yoga, QiGong, and a Connection to Nature
The yoga session was beginner-friendly, allowing everyone to participate and enjoy the experience. Practicing yoga in front of such a glorious view was a unique and invigorating experience. The gentle breeze and the sounds of nature added an extra layer of tranquility to the practice.
After yoga, we ventured into the woods for a QiGong session among the trees. Having never tried QiGong before, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to follow along. The movements were simple yet powerful, leaving us all feeling invigorated and connected to the natural world around us. It was a precious moment, standing among the trees, feeling the energy of the forest.
A Feast for the Senses and New Friendships
As the day continued, we made our way back to the base camp by the parachute and firepit field. Xenia had gone the extra mile to prepare a feast for us, including freshly made focaccia, scones, cake, bread, and tea and coffee, all included in the price. It was a delightful spread that nourished both body and soul.
Gathered around the campfire, we had plenty of time to enjoy the delicious food, mingle, and make new friends. The sense of community and connection was palpable, and it was a wonderful way to end the day. As we reluctantly wandered back into the real world, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the experience and hopeful that I would have the chance to do it again soon.
The Yoga & Forest Bathing Day Retreat in Bolney is a perfect way to spend a Sunday, offering a chance to recharge and reconnect with nature. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner, this retreat provides a welcoming and nurturing environment that leaves you feeling refreshed and inspired. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience in the heart of nature.
