Wonderful introduction to food typical of Bologna. Well paced. Very enjoyable - We covered SO much. Not just the tasting itself but cooking methods, history and culture. At each venue we felt very privileged. A great trip.

The Food Capital of the World - Bologna Food Bologna is Mostly well known for the cheese, ham, and pasta started in this area. If you were to ask me, I would say that the reason Bologna is well known for cheese, ham, and pasta is the fertile and rich soil all throughout the Po Valley. The rain, snow, and ice (melt), bring many value added nutrients and dump themselves into the soil of the Po Valley. The rich fertile soil is described on the internet as: “chocolatey”. I had always heard that plants like to have their leaves misted, thinking it a myth, but in the Piemontese area, there’s a dense fog that settles and adds to the agricultural richness.

The hidden Bologna - Our guide was fantastic, he overwhelmed us with a series of information on the history of art in Bologna unknown to most and took us to places unknown to tourists who, however, deserve to pay a ticket to visit them. His enthusiasm kidnapped us and the hours flew by listening to medieval stories and walking through the city, absolutely recommended!!

Bologna city walking tour w/food coupons - Very knowledgeable guide, easy to follow along. Saw many great places. The 3 food coupons were so so. Sandwich shop wouldn't provide food explained on the voucher. Tortellini place was way over cooked and terrible. Gelato place was great.

It was not really a... - It was not really a walking city tour; we spent more than 1 h inside the church with detailed explanation of the paintings. There was little curiosities explained about the city and rather complex and confusing historical information. The guide was difficult to understand.
