A Journey Back to Nature

As we set off on our latest adventure, the familiar hum of our RV on the open road brought back a flood of memories from my childhood road trips. My husband and I had decided to explore the scenic beauty of Bond, Colorado, and what better way to do so than by rafting down the legendary Colorado River? The promise of meadows, valleys, and the chance to spot wildlife like bald eagles and big horn sheep was too enticing to resist.

Arriving at Rancho Del Rio, the starting point of our rafting journey, I was immediately struck by the serene beauty of the landscape. The rolling ranch lands and steep canyon walls seemed to whisper stories of the past, tales of pioneers and adventurers who had once traversed these lands. Our guide, Tanner, greeted us with a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable day.

The Colorado River, in its late summer flow, was a gentle giant. The water was lower and slower, perfect for a leisurely exploration of the surrounding beauty. As we glided along, Tanner regaled us with stories of the river’s history, its origins in the Rocky Mountain National Park, and its journey through the famed Gore Canyon. The mild Class I-II rapids provided just the right amount of thrill without overwhelming us. We got wet, but not drenched, which was a relief given the crisp September air. His humor and enthusiasm were a perfect match for the scenic surroundings.

As our rafting adventure came to an end, I found myself reflecting on the day’s experiences.
