The whole day was brilliant, the return transport from Bordeaux to Saint-Emelion, the electric bikes, the wine tasting and lunch make this a must do all inclusive day out. Fun, beautiful, and delicious day led by our amazing guide Vincent - What a freaking lovely day this was. My wife and I sleepily walked to the pickup point in Bordeaux and met the few others that had booked the tour that day too. Then our guide for the day, Vincent, came strolling in and led us outside to the van where we hopped in for the 40ish minute drive to Saint Emilion.
Along the drive, Vincent engaged with us all and kept the conversation going quite naturally as he peppered the commuting time with some really great insights and history of Bordeaux and the area. Man, that guy is super knowledgeable.
After collecting the e-bikes in the town, we thus began the bike tour through the stunning countryside with Vincent at the helm and the other seven of us bringing up the rear. We stopped at the first of the two wineries for the day (we were told that the tour company has about 30 partner-wineries in the region, so no two tours will get the same experience/wine) and after a seeing some of the grounds and the production facilities (a pretty standard winery tour), a lovely picnic was waiting there for us that Vincent had set up in the meantime. Over the local charcuterie and wine, we got to chat with him about his own "who-what-where-when-how" as he shared more about his own story and more about the region.
Then, more biking through the breathtaking locale to the second winery with more insanely beautiful views and more delicious wine. After that, onto Saint Emilion proper, where we deposited our bikes and Vincent led us on a brief yet thorough tour of the medieval town (seriously, Vincent is an amazing guide. His knowledge reaches *way* past wine). And then... More wine! At a little shop in town, we were guided through 6 more wines from the local area by a very charming and funny employee.
We then drove back to Bordeaux and said our thanks and goodbyes to Vincent for SUCH an amazing day.
10 out of 10 would recommend.
