- Hálsasveitarvegur - Led by a knowledgeable local guide in English, this year-round tour begins with a short ride from the Húsafell Activity Centre to the trailhead in the remote Icelandic Highlands. On this 2-hour tour we enjoy a relaxed walk among natural wonders not found in many guidebooks, including the spectacular two-tiered waterfall Langifoss. We’ll also learn about Iceland’s renewable energy practices, cross an icy stream of glacial meltwater and see the site to Okjökull, Iceland’s first glacier claimed by climate change. Note that the route can change due to unforeseen weather circumstances such as snow, ice, mud or water.
The highlight of our excursion is a serene soak in the Húsafell Canyon Baths, a surreal hot spring paradise that has to be seen to be believed. Enjoy half an hour of relaxing, recharging and breathing in the pure Icelandic air before heading back to Hotel Húsafell.

Canyon Baths
The community of Húsafell, who initiated the Canyon Baths project, dedicated a huge amount of effort to ensure the entire construction was as green, sustainable, and respectful to the local heritage as possible. Choose from two hot springs with differing temperatures, between 30-41°C (86-105°F), as well as a cool spring residing at 10°C (50°F). Each comes with a stunning panoramic view of the neighbouring canyon, mountains and glaciers.
A tour, year-round, conducted by a well-informed native English-speaking guide, kicks off with a brief journey from the Húsafell Activity Centre to the trail’s starting point deep within the secluded Icelandic Highlands. We embark on a leisurely 2-hour ramble ambling through captivating natural wonders not commonly featured in most guidebooks, including the impressive double-layered waterfall, Langifoss.
