Additional Information

The North End of Boston stands as the city’s oldest inhabited district, and due to the influx of Italian immigrants in the 19th century, it’s often referred to as ‘Little Italy’.

To truly explore this interesting Italian district in Boston, a food tour is recommended; indulge in the culinary delights of North End while learning about its renowned residents.

With numerous top-tier restaurants that offer handcrafted pasta using traditional family recipes handed down from Nonna, and many bakeries that serve the most delicious Italian sweet treats, there isn’t anything you wouldn’t find as you leisurely walk down Hanover street with a local food connoisseur.

You’ll get to taste the most exceptional Italian dishes, from freshly brewed coffee to hot out of the oven pizza. You’ll visit both Moden Pastry and Mike’s Pastry, giving you an opportunity to decide which of the two is Little Italy’s cannoli champion.

Discover famous individualities like Paul Revere and Tony DeMarco, who once traversed these same stone-laid streets.

North End with Cady - Cady was a delightful guide. She gave us lots of facts and local inside information. Any question was answered and her patience and personality were great.

Amazing - We had a great time on this tour. Tony taught us so much about the history of Boston. As a teacher, I will be able to share what I learned with my class. I would Recommend this tour to everyone!

Fun History and Italian Food at its Best - What a pleasant surprise to see Tony at the meeting spot for the North End tour! He had been our guide the previous night for the Pub Crawl, and was tremendous. Once again, Tony shared his knowledge with all of us as we toured the North End. He shares so much history of Boston, and is such a wonderful story teller. He definitely knew the best places to stop for pizza, which shops had the best pastries, and why. You know you are getting the best information, when he shares where he shops for fresh pastas to take home to his own family, if he isn't doing another tour in the evening. Tony gave us time to purchase and try the baked treasures, between his stories. We met at the Tony DeMarco statue, where we began learning immediately. We went by Paul Revere's home and the Old North Church listening to stories as we stopped near each. My husband went to use a restroom near Old North Church and returned quicker than others. When I asked how he got through so fast, he informed me he had decided not to wait in line, for fear of missing more 'Tony Wisdom'. Tony wandered on Hanover street with us, sharing and showing us where to find the food treasures offered in the North End. He knows the history of the shops, and ended our tour with the fascinating story of the Great Molasses Flood in 1919. You can't go wrong with a tour where Tony is your guide.

I great way to learn about the North end in Boston. - Tony was our tour guide and he was friendly and engaging from the beginning. Near the end of the tour, my husband, who is quiet and not easily impressed, said, “This is the kind of tour I like. I like hearing all the history along with the food.” We would definitely do this tour again. I would like to suggest stopping for more entre type foods. We did stop for delicious pizza one time, and the rest were bakeries (dessert). It was lacking balance.

Awesome, but... - Tony is truly a local historian. We have lived here our whole lives and still learned a lot! That being said, we were misled by the website and didn't know the food cost extra.

Fun - The tour was very informative and our guide did a great job at blending history and food recommendations. She was friendly and welcoming. We went on it with a little one in a stroller. There were 4 food stops (3 bakeries and pizza/gelato) and five or so story/ history stops. The first food stop was not stroller friendly, but they had a cute courtyard we could wait in while the others went down.

Awesome tour guide, too many people - The tour guide was awesome. This is no way a reflection of her and Had I just been reviewing her it would be 5 stars. The tour itself was dragged.. we had to many people and we would have to wait for everyone to stand in line order food and wait. If the group was smaller it would of been much much better. But don't waste your time on this. Too many things to do to spend 2 hours visiting under 10 food places.
