Chobe National Park - 07:30hrs
Guests will be picked up from their Victoria Falls or Livingstone Hotel for a transfer to Chobe National Park in Botswana. This journey covers 70km (approximately one hour of safe driving) through the Zambezi National Park (known as Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambian side), offering excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings even before reaching Botswana.
08:30hrs
Upon arrival at the Zimbabwe/Zambia - Botswana border, after straightforward immigration procedures, guests will proceed directly to the Chobe River Jetty for a three-hour Chobe River game cruise. The day typically begins with a river cruise into the park, providing a chance to observe a variety of waders and water birds, along with the ever-present crocodiles and lurking hippos.
Chobe is famous for large herds of herbivores making their way to the river to drink, most notably African buffalo and elephants. On the island, Puku and Lechwe are frequently seen, while on the banks, kudu, impala, and waterbuck are common. Complimentary soft drinks are available on the boat, along with tea, coffee, and a light snack before the guests’ activity.
12:30hrs
Following the cruise, a delightful lunch is served at the Chobe Safari Lodge (or a similar venue). Bottled water, tea, and coffee are included with lunch.
After a one-hour lunch break, guests embark on a game drive, getting close to nature in specially adapted open 4 x 4 vehicles. Chobe frequently offers lion sightings, and Eland, Sable, and Roan antelope are common at certain times of the year. Leopards, though elusive, are common in the area, and guests may be fortunate to spot one! Drives typically follow the waterfront where wildlife gathers to quench their thirst, with lions often resting in the shade. Complimentary soft drinks are provided while enjoying some of the finest game viewing in Africa.
After a three-hour safari drive, vehicles return to the border at 16:30 for the transfer back to Victoria Falls/Livingstone. Arrival at the border is at 17:00hrs, and after completing border formalities, the drive continues through the Zambezi/Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, with more wildlife sightings possible along the way.
Guests will return to their hotel at approximately 18:00hrs or shortly thereafter.
