Extraordinary trip with a warm, knowledgeable guide - My wife and I loved our trip through Zimbabwe and Botswana. Here’s what made the trip amazing: 1) Incredible nature: Chobe and the Okavango Delta were my favorites because we got to see so many animals from such a close distance. Walking among elephants, giraffes, and zebras during the bush walks was truly wild 2) Seamless logistics: Archie was professional and accommodating during the planning process (don’t be put off by WhatsApp because it worked well!), while Tafara ensured every stay and activity was perfectly coordinated during the trip so we never had to worry 3) Fantastic guide: Tafara, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and organized, not to mention a wonderful companion throughout our many game drives and meals together. He could spot animals from far off like no other and an hour later discuss politics over one of many delicious restaurants he brought us to. He’s the best When we return (and we will), we’d definitely go with Africa Uncovered. They added a ton of value throughout the trip and it couldn’t have been any easier!

Once in a Lifetime Safari through Botswana and Victoria Falls - Our safari adventure began right from the moment we landed in Maun, with a seamless and friendly pickup from the airport from Tafara, our tour guide for the next 7 days, holding a sign with my name on it. I was able to customize the itinerary to start in Maun then head east to Zimbabwe and ask for a bush ablution stay. Day 1: Mokoro canoe, stay in bush ablution in Okavango Delta We were handed off to guides who put us on a mokoro canoe. We were able to see a group of hippos bathing at sunset as well as an elephant herd. This was only our first day! That night, there were four people who set up our camping tent and cooked for us. Out in the Okavango Delta at night, you could see the clear sky and all the stars. We could also hear sounds of wildlife but were entrusted in good company before any danger would come to us at night. Day 2: Okavango Delta tracking Early morning, we were fed breakfast and Jacob, our tracker, guided us on foot to track animals and anything that was hunted overnight. We saw many carcasses and footprints, giraffes, wild dogs, zebras, etc. It was so interesting to get close to these animals. We were then transported back by a mokoro canoe and dropped off to Tafara to eat dinner in Maun Town and get ready for the next day. Day 3: Magkadigkadi Salt Pans We were transported early from a hotel in Maun by car through the national park to see the Salt Pans. It was off season and the rainfall was low this year (due to climate change, I suspect). Going through 4 hour rides with a guide is so important. We got along with Tafara right away and he told us about his life at home in Zimbabwe. We explored South Africa, Lesotho, and during this trip we did Botswana, but it was so nice to know a little bit about how the culture of Zimbabwe is different. We went on a game drive and saw many wildebeests at sunset, an abandoned ostrich egg from jackals, and drank a beer in the middle of the salt pans. Day 4: Elephant Reserve & Chobe National Park Tafara recommended to have us stop in an elephant reserve on the way to Chobe National Park. It was so refreshing. He really was knowledgeable about the ecosystem, wildlife, and places to go in Botswana. He drove us for another 4+ hours up to Chobe National Park for a sunset boat cruise. This was absolutely phenomenal at sunset since many animals come out when it is not so hot. We saw so many birds, elephants bathing, crocodiles, antelope, etc. So far, we were able to see 3 of the Big 5. Day 5: Chobe National Park Game Drives We woke up early from our hotel for a morning and later an afternoon game drive. It was freezing temperature, and we were provided blankets for a 6 AM game drive primarily to look for big cats. Whenever one of the safari guides spot a lion or leopard, everyone is made aware. We saw the tail end of two female lions. We got lucky with seeing a lioness target two sable antelopes near the Chobe River in the afternoon. It was the highlight of our trip! Day 6: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe The next two days in Zimbabwe were really one of the best we’ve had. Victoria Falls is packed with all different types of activities and all in one spot. Because we only had two days on our schedule to do all the things in Zimbabwe, Tafara was able to fit in all of it so we were able to do everything! Our morning started off with crossing the Botswana border to Zimbabwe, him dropping off our luggage, guided tour of the Victoria Falls from the top with water spraying everywhere, stopping by a crocodile farm to see crocodiles and dangerous snakes, eating lunch at a nice spot where we saw a vulture feeding, visiting a local homestead in the outskirts to see their way of life (eye-opening btw!), stopping by Victoria Falls Hotel for English tea time, and then ending our nigh for a festive boma dinner and performance. Day 7: Victoria Falls The next day, we woke up early and had an arranged white water rafting on the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls. We had a brief safety session and went on our way to the falls. Eventually by the third major rapid, we were flipped over! We hiked back up fro the gorge with attendants helping us with the items and were fed lunch. This was such a great experience to end Victoria Falls and our safari. Tafara transported us in time for our flight back to Kasane in Botswana for our next flight. There are SO MANY amazing things I can say about Tafara. He is kind, attentive, patient, and accommodating to all our needs. His expertise made it possible for to learn about the local culture, flora, fauna, and wildlife. The tour company was able to arrange all our hotel accommodations, guides for various activities, and anything else that we needed. The attention to detail, from the comfortable accommodations to the delicious meals, was top-notch, and it was clear that every aspect of the safari was thoughtfully planned to create the best possible experience. If you're looking for a safari that combines adventure, education, and the beauty of Africa’s wild spaces, I cannot recommend Tafara and Africa Uncovered Safaris enough. It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for our engagement that exceeded all expectations!

Amazing, well-organised tour across Zimbabwe and Botswana - During July, my boyfriend and I went on a Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) and Botswana 9 day tour with Africa Uncovered, with tour guide Tafara. We booked the tour super last minute (only a few weeks before), but Archie and Tafara were so accommodating and the organization of the trip was very smooth. We had the most incredible time exploring all the different magical spots of Botswana and seeing all the animals. We also really enjoyed getting to know Tafara, who was patient and kind, and gave us loads of information about his home country which was fascinating. We had lots of support from Tafara & Archie when my boyfriend came down with the flu, and was feeling very poorly - Tafara took him to a doctor, and was able to change some plans when necessary. They were also very supportive when we decided we did not want to camp in the bush, and helped to swap us back to the hotel. Overall, we'd really recommend both the tour and the company!

Zimbabwe and Botswana with Africa Uncovered Safari - we had a wonderful tour with this agency. Our guide Tafara was very good, kind and very professional. I prepared the trip with Archie, who was also very kind, always ready to give us advice and help us. The helicopter flight over Victoria Falls and the flight over the Okavango Delta are absolutely worth doing. Always beautiful lodges and delicious food in every location. Everything went perfectly.Africa Uncovered Safari is the best. Trust them completely, perhaps the most beautiful journey of our lives.
