Journey from Marrakech to Dades Valley via the High Atlas Mountains
Dades Gorges - The 3-day tour begins in Marrakech, heading towards Ouarzazate. Travelers are driven through the slopes of the Atlas Mountains, known as “Tizi-n-Tishka,” one of the most winding roads globally. This pass, at an elevation of 2,260 meters above sea level, offers stunning views, mountain streams, oaks, walnut trees, and more. Along the way, Berber villages and terraced fields line the road. In winter, snow often covers the pass.
Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou - The journey continues to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular filming location. Numerous international and local films, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and The Mummy, have been shot here. Upon arrival at Ait Ben Haddou, visitors can leisurely explore the Kasbah’s walls and enjoy lunch before proceeding to Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa, and then to Boumalne Dades, where the first day concludes.
From Dades Gorge to Merzouga Erg Chebbi Desert
Erg Chebbi Dunes - After breakfast, the journey continues towards Toudra Gorges, located about 14 kilometers into the mountains from the town of Tenghir. Visitors can walk through its 300-meter canyon walls. The path then leads further to the great southern oases into the Sahara Desert, a place of peace and tranquility. Upon reaching Merzouga, travelers will ride camels across the vast sand dunes to a desert camp. This experience is one of the most exhilarating and inspiring during a stay in Morocco. Along the way, there will be stops to admire the breathtaking sunset. By dusk, the camp is reached, where guests are welcomed with tea, shown their tents, and given some free time. After dinner, a musical evening by the fire is planned, and guests can climb the dunes to admire the stunning starry sky and shooting stars. Overnight stay at the Desert Camp in a private tent with shared bathrooms and showers.
Return Journey to Marrakech
Ouarzazate - Day 3: Return to Marrakech
At dawn, enjoy an unforgettable sunrise, followed by breakfast and a camel ride back. The journey continues by car to Rissani (formerly known as “Sijilmasa”), the country’s largest oasis, featuring adobe Kasbahs and palm groves, making it a worthwhile stop. Beyond Rissani, a detour of about 150 kilometers leads to the town of Tinghir, crossing a vast area of mountains and acacia trees. Lunch is enjoyed in one of the villages en route to Ouarzazate. The afternoon journey continues, once again passing through the Atlas Mountains, before arriving in Marrakech by early evening.
