FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!! - We choose to do this day trip tour to Peneda-Geres National Park from Porto and it was absolutely spectacular!! We feel very blessed that we had Pedro and Raquel as our tour guides. They were both extremely knowledgeable about the park and went above and beyond for us! We spent 4 days in Lisbon and 3 days in Porto, and this was the absolute highlight of our trip to Portugal. A huge thank you to Pedro and Raquel for both being so wonderful! We can not thank you enough for your hospitality and kindness. You both made the trip u forgettable for us!

Wonerfull day spent in nature - We spent great sunny day in National Park Geres with our guide Petito. Petito ia a great guide and driver too. He was also very informative and kind. He showed us all hidden gems and views in the Park. We had a great local home meal. Thank you for a wonderfull day.

Five Stars for Miguel and Geres Nat’l Park Tour - Miguel was an AMAZING tour guide for our day trip to Gerês National Park. He was very personable and was a wonderful guide for the day. He was also very knowledgeable - and was able to share many fun stories along the way. He shared info not only about the park, but also about the City of Porto and surrounding area as well. His English was impeccable. We stopped for hikes to several waterfalls and viewpoints, had a wonderful lunch in a small charming home-style restaurant, and for espresso en route. Thank you Miguel for a perfect day.

Unfortunate bad weather, but great guide! - Our tour guide was Hernan and he was great! He was very knowledgeable about the area, giving lots of info during the drive, and he was familiar with the locals. We even got some homemade limoncello!
Unfortunately there was bad weather in the morning that made the trails too muddy and slippery to use, but Hernan drove us to some beautiful lookout spots so we could still make the most of the day.
The restaurant for lunch had pretty standard good food, but didn't have a lot of options for dietary restrictions and the glass I received was dirty.

Unforgettable Adventure in Peneda-Gerês with an Exceptional Guide - Pedro is an outstanding tour guide with incredible knowledge of the local history and geography. He made the experience engaging and memorable, and I especially enjoyed our lively conversation about football during the ride. The Peneda-Gerês National Park is breathtaking, and Pedro ensured we visited some of the most stunning viewpoints. It was an unforgettable adventure, and I highly recommend exploring with Detours!

Gerẽs walk and viewpoints - We were met at 8am at our hotel by our guide Francisco and the only other guy on our tour Rodrigo from Brazil.
The weather was around 15/16 degrees and Rain and cloud forecast all day.
We set off on an hour and 45 minute drive to the National park and we had a coffee and breakfast stop about 30 mins from our destination.
The tour began in a small village high up in the mountains called Fafião. We walked around the village and along a trek to visit a “Wolf Trap” and then on to an amazing viewpoint. The village is known as the village of the wolf.
We continued on by van to our second Second short stop, a waterfall, called POÇO DA GANCELA.
After a walk around this area, we headed toward the village of Ermida where we visited another amazing viewpoint and then stopped for lunch at a small family restaurant called Casa do Criado. They made us feel so welcome and we were treated to a variety of local Portuguese rustic dishes, Green wine and a liqueur called Licor Beirão.
The second half of the day was visiting another amazing Waterfall - CASCATA DO ARADO ALT. 750 followed by another fantastic viewpoint overlooking Geres and our highest view of the day just 8 miles from the Spanish border. Finally we headed toward the town of Gerês for a look around and coffee before heading back to Porto areiving back airing 530pm.
All the views were amazing despite the weather and it just made me want to come back to see it’s beauty in a different light.
With all the granite rock and foliage, it reminded me of the highlands of Scotland only warmer!
Our guide is passionate about nature and is highly knowledgeable about the Gerês region. Francisco was a delight and had an excellent sense of humour. It really was like being on a tour with a small group of friends.
I would highly recommend heading out on this tour if you have never seen this part of the world.

Fun - Great Tour guide. All of the locations are beautiful and highly recommend. Bring good Hiking or track shoes for the hikes.

Amazing scenic hike - This tour was absolutely amazing and will be one of the best experiences of life! The scenes are stunning and the leaves were absolutely gorgeous during the fall. Teresa, our tour guide, was charismatic and super knowledgeable. The tour is very small and personal, which I loved. There is a good mix of moderate climbing of rocks and hills and so be prepared to get some steps in - though most of the trip is by car. You will stop in the village to have one of the most amazing feasts of your life. They made incredible accommodations for me as a vegetarian and the food was some of the freshest I've ever had. Highly recommend this tour!

Exceptional Service Peneda Geres National Park - Carlos was such an amazing travel guide. He was very friendly, conversational, and went above and beyond to make this experience an unforgettable one. From telling us about the history and culture behind every corner of National Peneda Geres Park, to inviting us to an amazing lunch with so many delicious and nutritious food, and not to forget taking us to the border between Spain and Portugal! Carlos made sure that we were comfortable, safe, and having a good time. I will definitely recommend you to book this trip, it will be worth your time and money!

Last full day in Portugal - Francisco was a perfect guide for our group. He's a funny guy! I was a bit under the weather, and Francisco made a point to check in on me. The sites at the Peneda-Gere's National Park are amazing. I would love to have Francisco as a guide when I do another mountain tour! Thank you Francisco!
