In the early morning, the journey begins by departing from Bucharest and heading north towards the Carpathian Mountains. The first destination is Peles Castle, an awe-inspiring site constructed by Romania’s first king, Carol I. In this enchanting setting, there is an opportunity to learn about the Romanian Monarchy and its legacy. Visitors can explore the wonders of this magnificent palace, which appears to be frozen in time.
Continuing further north, the journey crosses the mountains to reach the historic region of Transylvania. Here, the adventure of discovering the legend of Vlad the Impaler and Bram Stoker’s Dracula begins. The initial stop is the medieval Bran Castle, famously known as Dracula’s Castle.
Following Bran, the tour proceeds to the 13th-century medieval fortress of Rasnov, an impressive site perched on a mountain top with a view of the entire surrounding valley. This remarkable site was originally constructed by the Teutonic Knights nearly 800 years ago.
The final stop of the day is the medieval section of the city of Brasov. Enjoy a walking tour of this delightful old town, rich in history and landmarks. From here, the journey returns to Bucharest.
