Day 1 - Bucharest - Sinaia - Bran - Brasov - Sighisoara

Bucharest - Depart from your hotel in the morning at 08:00 a.m.

Peles Castle - Explore the stunning Peles Castle, the summer home of Romania’s first king, King Charles I of Hohenzollern, who was of German descent. Designed by a Czech architect, this castle is renowned for being one of the most modern in Europe during its construction in the 19th and 20th centuries. Each room boasts a unique style, distinct from the others. We’ll also visit the Florentine room, where you’ll experience a quintessentially Italian and Renaissance ambiance.

Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) - Tour the iconic Bran Castle, also known as Dracula’s Castle. Located 25 kilometers from Brasov at the entrance of the Bran-Rucar passage, the castle gained fame from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s film adaptation. The earliest records of Bran Castle date back to 1377. Throughout history, the castle served a strategic role as the border between Transylvania and Wallachia. Initially under the rule of Hungary’s King Sigismund of Luxemburg, it later came under the control of Romanian voivodes Mircea cel Batran and Vlad Tepes, and eventually the City of Brasov. In 1912, it was gifted by the municipality of Brasov to the Romanian royal family to become their residence.

Brasov - Continue to Brasov, where you’ll have free time to explore the old town. Since 1520, the City Council Square has been the heart of Brasov, hosting merchants and craftsmen from Transylvania, Wallachia, and even the Near East and Europe. The surrounding streets were named after the types of goods sold there, such as The Wheat Fair, The Cloth Row, The Butnar Fair, The Linen Fair, The Cotton Row, and The Coats Fair. The Square is encircled by houses in Renaissance, Baroque, Provincial, and Neo-classic styles, which once housed small shops and warehouses.

The Square is dominated by the impressive Council Hall building.

Brasov’s medieval fortress was one of the most secure in Europe, featuring stone walls, 32 defense towers, 8 bulwarks, and 4 fortified gates. The towers served both defensive and observational purposes. During our tour, we’ll see the preserved old wall, Black and White Towers, and the Weaver’s Bastion – the largest and best-preserved bastion.

Ecaterina’s Gate, near the Schei Gate in the western part of the Fortress, was built in 1559 in the Renaissance style. It features a sharp tower and four smaller towers, symbolizing the medieval right of life and death over vassals (the right of the broadsword). The gate also had firing vents and a drawbridge with chains, making it one of the city’s most fortified gates.

Day 2 - Sighisoara - Sibiu - Bucharest

Centrul Istoric Sighisoara - Visit Sighisoara, a UNESCO World Heritage site known as the “fortress city,” which retains its medieval center on the hill of the fortification. This is also the birthplace of Vlad Tepes, better known as Count Dracula. Enjoy the medieval atmosphere in the birthplace of Vlad Dracula.

Sibiu - Explore Sibiu, a charming city with an old-world atmosphere that was the European Cultural Capital in 2007. During your city tour, stroll through the historic streets to admire key landmarks such as the Baroque-style Bruckenthal Palace from the late 18th century, the Lies Bridge connecting the lower and upper towns, the Saxon Cathedral, the Catholic Cathedral, and the city’s main squares.

Bucharest - Return to your hotel in Bucharest.
