On our recent day trip to the enchanting sites of Cetatea Rupea, Sighișoara and Viscri,we were fortunate to have an exceptional tour guide, Charlie,whose passion for the region enhanced our experience. From the moment we met him,it was clear we were in good hands.With a warm welcoming,he gave us a brief overview of the day's itinerary.His enthusiasm was catchy,setting a positive tone for the adventure ahead. As we made our way to Cetatea Rupea, Charlie shared fascinating historical insights about the fortress.He told us stories of the site's medieval significance,its strategic importance in the region and the various cultures that influenced its architecture.The panoramic view from the majestic fortress was magical,with rolling hills, stretching as far as the eye could see. Next,we ventured to the enchanting town of Sighișoara,a UNESCO World Heritage site.With its cobblestone streets and colourful buildings,it felt like stepping into a fairy tale.Charlie,expertly led us through the narrow alleys always giving us pertinent information about everything that was worth being mentioned about the sites that we visited on our wonderful trip. Our final destination was the picturesque village of Viscri,very famous for its traditional Saxon heritage.The thatched roof houses and serene countryside provided a perfect backdrop for reflection. By the end of the day,we have not only explored breathtaking sites,but also forged a bond with our guide and eachother. If you wish to experience the heart of Transylvania through the eyes of a passionate storyteller, Charlie is the guide you need,and not only a guide,but a very good driver! He turned a day trip into a journey of the heart and mind!

Fantastic Medieval Experiences in Romania - I took the tour with Tiberiu and it’s an amazing day! There are 2 ppl including me so Tiberiu was super flexible with adjusting the time spent on each spots. He was very informative, helpful and passionate about what he is doing. Our first stop is Sighișoara, our guide explained the detailed history and walked us through an important parts of town together then let us be on our own to explore what we’re interested for 1.5 hours. Then we moved to Viscri, the fortified church is truly worth a visit, the scenery from up there is breathtaking and the town itself is lovely to walk around. Tiberiu also gave us time to visit the house of King Charles which is a bonus for us! If you have enough time please don’t hesitate to include this to your day trip. Then lastly we went to Rupea fortress to finish our day with great views from hilltop. I totally recommend this tour as a must in your visit to Romania and would love to join another tour with Active Travel again on my next time in Romania.

Wonderful day in Transylvania - We took a private tour of this area and had a wonderful day with our tour guide Charlie. He was professional, knowledgeable, patient and very friendly. He explained all the interesting facts and had a great sense of humor. He was well prepared for the variable weather we had all day so it made the experience stress free for us. We truly enjoyed his company today.

Best Tour Ever - Our tour and guide were fabulous! Although it was an overcast/misty day, we thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, thoughtful, and so kind. We learned so much history and enjoyed beautiful sites.

Viscri Church Sighisoara and Rupea Fortress - Our guide Dan was very knowledgable. He made the history of the places we visited come alive. We saw Viscri Church which was a Saxon stronghold. He drove us through the town and pointed out places of interest and took us to a parking area just outside of Viscri Church. We went through the various buildings and saw how the Saxons lived. Sighisoara was a interesting town. The church was high on a hill and a person at the church gave us a talk about the church and the various statues and the frescoes. We returned to the town by walking through the cemetary. It was notable that a grave was used multiple times for various generations. The same grave was used for 4 or 5 bodies and the gravestone would have multiple epitaphs one for each. Dan also took us to St. George's monastery, a contemporary nunnery with a gorgeous church. The day was very satisfying.

Enriching cultural trip - Mihal is a very knowledgeable and patient guide. As such, we were able to spend more time at stops worth visiting and skim through those he felt wasn't worth the trip. He is also a good photographer as well. He does hiking trips but unfortunately due to limited time I can't do it ,otherwise I would love to have him again as my guide
