A Ride Through Paradise

The sun was just beginning to cast its golden glow over the lush landscapes of Costa Rica’s Guanacaste region as I found myself saddled up and ready to embark on a horseback adventure to Conchal Beach. As someone who spends most of his time chasing waves, the idea of trading my surfboard for a saddle was both thrilling and a little daunting. But the promise of exploring the breathtaking trails and pristine shores of Conchal Beach was too tempting to resist.

Our guides were a friendly bunch, exuding the kind of warmth and hospitality that makes you feel instantly at ease. A Note on Horse Care

While the ride was an unforgettable experience, I couldn’t help but notice a concern that needed addressing. Some of the horses had sores on their faces, and flies seemed to be a persistent nuisance. As someone who has spent years around animals, I knew this wasn’t normal. I mentioned it to one of the guides, who assured me that a vet had recently visited and treated the horses. I truly hope this is the case and that the issue is being addressed.

Despite this hiccup, the horses were in great shape otherwise, and their calm demeanor made them perfect companions for both novice and experienced riders. The operators were attentive and genuinely cared about the well-being of their animals, which was reassuring. I hope they continue to provide the necessary care to ensure these beautiful creatures remain healthy and happy.

In the end, the Conchal Beach Adventure was a delightful escape from the usual surf-centric adventures. It offered a unique perspective on the stunning landscapes of Costa Rica and a chance to connect with nature in a different way. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend giving it a try.
