- The West Indies Rum Distillery Ltd - Meet your host Dameain at the largest and only rum distillery on the Barbados coastline! Begin your mixology class with a quick history of the distillery that includes a visit to the “History Wall” and a Potstill (utensil used to make rum), and learn about the history and production of rum on the island. Next, create and enjoy 3 different rum-based cocktails from scratch. You will create a traditional Barbadian rum punch, Corn ‘n’ oil, a cocktail made with falernum (local sugarcane liqueur), and a creative contemporary rum cocktail accented by local flavors. Dameain is delighted to share the history of the ingredients used in the cocktails and helps you appreciate the tastes and notes of local Barbadian rums. Learn about the techniques and tips involved in making and tasting cocktails as you shake your own cocktails with the help of this expert mixologist. Enjoy your cocktails paired with local Bajan finger foods such as fish-cakes or samosas, and maybe a nice cigar!

Learn to mix rum-based cocktails with your host and rummelier Dameain, voted “Mixologist of the year” in Barbados for two consecutive years! A brand ambassador for West Indies Rum Distillery’s rums, Dameain is also a TV personality. Dameain is excited to share his passion for mixology by offering a master mixology class on Brighton Beach. Funnily enough, Dameain started his career in nutrition. At the end of his shift at the most popular bar and restaurant in St. Lawrence Gap (Cafe Jungles), he would hang out and help at the bar. His manager saw his interest in the bar and he has since become one of the top bartenders/mixologists in the country. Dameain travels to the US to educate audiences about rum at various spirit festivals and is the person to connect with if you’re interested in learning about and appreciating rum! Your experience includes a brief history of the distillery and a rum tasting in addition to a mixology class paired with local finger foods.
