Setting Sail on El Tigre

The day began with a gentle breeze and the promise of adventure as I was picked up by a minibus, which whisked me away to the marina. The journey was more than just a ride; it was a mini-tour, complete with a glimpse of Rihanna’s original house. Our driver, a local with a wealth of stories, set the tone for the day with his infectious enthusiasm. Arriving at the marina, I was greeted by the sight of El Tigre, a classic catamaran celebrating her 47th birthday. Immaculately kept, she boasted plenty of comfortable space and a welcoming crew ready to make our day unforgettable.

As we pulled away from the marina, the sea breeze kissed my face, and I felt the familiar thrill of being on the water. The Caribbean coastline unfolded before us, a picturesque backdrop to our journey. With a cup of coffee in hand, I settled into the rhythm of the waves, eager for the adventures that lay ahead.

Snorkeling with Sea Turtles and Shipwrecks

Our first stop was a dream come true for any ocean lover—swimming with sea turtles. These majestic creatures, almost Jurassic in their grace, glided effortlessly through the water. I found myself mesmerized by their beauty, feeling a deep connection to the ocean that has always been a part of my life. Next, we sailed to a shipwreck, a hauntingly beautiful site teeming with tropical fish. The water was alive with color, and I was captivated by the large silver Tarpon, which, to the untrained eye, could easily be mistaken for a member of the shark family. Snorkeling here was like stepping into another world, one where time seemed to stand still, and the only sound was the gentle lapping of the waves.

A Feast on the Waves

After our underwater adventures, it was time to refuel with a delicious lunch. The crew served up a feast of rice, chicken, macaroni pie, salad, and fresh rolls. The flavors were as vibrant as the sea itself, and the camaraderie among the guests made the meal even more enjoyable. Throughout the trip, the crew ensured that no glass was left empty, offering a selection of beer, rum punch, soft drinks, and coffee.

The crew’s energy was infectious, their laughter and stories adding to the day’s joy. They were attentive and professional, ensuring that everyone felt safe and comfortable.
