  • Animal Flower Cave - Located at the northernmost point of Barbados in St. Lucy, the Animal Flower Cave gets its name from the sea anemones found in its pools, some of which are deep enough for swimming. The cave features several openings with spectacular sea views and walls with interesting formations colored green and brown by copper and iron oxidation. Look for the lizard, turtle, and hand formations as you explore. Don’t miss the clifftop bar and restaurant, known for the best lemonade in Barbados, along with other drinks and local dishes. The area also has a large children’s playpark and stalls selling local jewelry, art, and crafts. The surrounding cliffs offer stunning views of the northern coast, where Atlantic waves crash against the rocks.
  • Barbados Wildlife Reserve - This is Barbados’ animal kingdom, where you can walk freely among animals feeding and playing in their natural habitat. See agouti, armadillo, Brocket deer, pelicans, and caimans, with monkeys being most abundant at afternoon feeding time. Reptiles include snakes, iguanas, turtles, and tortoises, while parrots, flamingos, and peacocks add bright splashes of color. Dangerous animals like pythons are kept enclosed. Top Tip: Arrive by 2pm to see the monkeys, especially the babies, being fed!
  • St. Nicholas Abbey - Built in 1658, this Jacobean Great House is one of only three in the Western Hemisphere. The property has been restored as a sustainable heritage attraction and working plantation, producing its own unique single cask rums, which have received international acclaim. The tour includes the Great House, gardens, a small museum, factory, distillery, a short movie from around 1930, and rum tasting. For enthusiasts, the private Rum Experience Tour with owner Larry Warren is available on select days. The plantation also features an authentic Victorian steam railway.

  • Bushy Park Barbados - Go Kart Racing or karting is a motorsport using open-wheel, four-wheeled vehicles known as go-karts or shifter karts, usually raced on scaled-down circuits, though some professional races are held on full-size tracks.
  • Sunbury Plantation House - Built around 1660 by Matthew Chapman, an Irish/English planter and one of the island’s first settlers, Sunbury Plantation House is over 300 years old and rich in history. It features mahogany antiques, old prints, antique porcelain dolls, and a unique collection of horse-drawn carriages. Originally named Chapman’s Plantation, it went through several name changes before becoming Sunbury Plantation. It is the only great house in Barbados with all rooms available for viewing.
  • George Washington House - This historic house in Barbados is where the future first U.S. President George Washington stayed in 1751 at age 19, traveling with his half-brother Lawrence Washington, who had tuberculosis. George Washington contracted smallpox during his stay and was nursed back to health here. Barbados is the only country outside the present United States that George Washington visited.
  • Welchman Hall Gully - Located in St. Thomas, Welchman Hall Gully is a three-quarter mile long gully home to various tropical plants and trees, including nutmeg, bamboo, clove, and palms. The gully, formed by collapsed cave roofs, is geologically connected to Harrison’s Cave and features similar stalactites and stalagmites. The self-guided tour along a shaded path allows exploration of bamboo groves, cave formations, and playful monkeys. The gully offers a glimpse of how the first British settlers saw the island.
  • Bathsheba Beach - Legend has it that Bathsheba, wife of King David, bathed in milk to keep her skin beautiful and soft. The surf-covered white waters of Bathsheba, rich in minerals, are said to resemble her bath in both appearance and health benefits. The beach features wide white sand, dramatic rock formations, and crashing Atlantic waves. The village of Bathsheba is home to a small fishing community, guest houses, rum shops, and restaurants.
  • Gun Hill Signal Station - Located in St. George, Gun Hill Signal Station is the largest and most important military outpost in Barbados, with associations dating back to at least 1697. The site features tropical gardens, a stone lion, and a path to a hilltop signal tower offering panoramic island views.
  • Earthworks Pottery - Earthworks Pottery in Barbados is a modern pottery studio producing exceptional art pieces made from earth and clay. Pottery making and decorating classes are also available.
  • Hunte’s Gardens - Known as one of the top garden spots on the island, Hunte’s Gardens features over 84 species and varieties of birds, flowers, and plants, including the purple lily, heliconia, and orchids. The garden showcases both common and rare species found in the West Indies.
  • St. James Parish Church - One of the four oldest surviving churches in Barbados, St. James Parish Church is located near the site of the island’s first settlement in Holetown. Established in 1628, the original wooden church was replaced by a coral-stone building 60 years later. The church features mural tablets, stained glass windows, and a bell inscribed with “God bless King William, 1696,” predating the American Liberty Bell by 56 years. The burial ground contains some of the island’s oldest graves.
  • St. John’s Parish Church - One of Barbados’ oldest church sites, this Gothic-style church offers panoramic views of the eastern beaches from its cemetery. The interior features elaborate woodwork, including a grand pulpit and sweeping staircases. The cemetery contains grand headstones and crypts of notable past Bajans.
  • Bottom Bay - Bottom Bay is a remote cove with a picturesque beach, bordered by jagged cliffs. The area features coconut palms, soaring cliffs, intriguing caves, and turquoise waves rolling onto the golden white sand, creating a tropical paradise.
  • Foursquare Rum Distillery - Located on 8 acres of a former sugar plantation, Foursquare Rum Distillery is known for its wide range of rums, including Doorly’s, Old Brigand, and E.S.A. Field. The distillery won Rum Distillery of the Year in 2016 at the IWSC in London. Guided tours include a small museum and tastings.

  • Speightstown - Also known as Little Bristol, Speightstown is the second largest city center in Barbados, located 12 miles north of Bridgetown in St. Peter. Named after William Speight, a member of Barbados’ first Assembly, the city features the Speightstown Mural.
  • Carlisle Bay - Located in the southwest of Barbados, Carlisle Bay is a small natural harbor and marine park popular for scuba diving. The bay features relics like anchors and cannonballs from old ships.
  • Cherry Tree Hill - At 850 feet above sea level, Cherry Tree Hill offers excellent views of the “Scotland District” in St. Andrew. The area was once lined with cherry trees, now replaced by mahogany trees introduced after the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The mahogany trees give way to sugar cane as you descend the hill.
  • Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill - One of the largest and only complete sugar windmills in the Caribbean, Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill features intact wind-driven machinery from the 18th and 19th centuries. The mill includes an exhibit of sugar production equipment from the wind-power era. The rubble walls are made of boulders held together with a mixture of egg-white and coral dust.
  • Rihanna Drive Monument - This monument in St. Michael honors Barbadian singer and global icon Rihanna, showcasing her achievements and contributions to music and culture. It is a symbol of pride for Barbados and a must-visit for fans.
  • Kensington Oval - Located in western Bridgetown, Kensington Oval is the premier sporting facility in Barbados, primarily used for cricket. It has hosted many important cricket games over its 120-year history.
  • Farley Hill National Park - Set in the grounds of the once regal Farley Hill house, this park features breathtaking scenery, a mansion in ruins, and a forest of mahogany trees. It is an ideal spot for picnics, nature walks, and weddings.
  • Bridgetown - Bridgetown offers a variety of shopping experiences, including duty-free shops, department stores, malls, smaller shops, and street vendors.
  • Independence Square - Located on the waterfront in Bridgetown, Independence Square is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds.
