Wandering up and down Smith Street in Carroll Gardens, we stop into many of the local mom and pop businesses including a renowned baker, an impressive cheese shop, and an adorable little cookie bakery.
- Carroll Gardens - As we stroll through this picturesque neighborhood we learn how it got its name, about its history as an Italian and Irish immigrant neighborhood, and how the waterfront helped transform it. We meet residents and shop owners and taste some great pastries, house roasted coffee, and visit an old-school soda fountain.
- Cobble Hill - This historic district features some of the most beautiful brownstones in all of Brooklyn. Feel like a local as we wander through the residential streets and beautiful parks. Admire the architecture and visit many of the mom and pop businesses in the neighborhood.
- Brooklyn Heights - We just touch on the southern end of this historic neighborhood by walking down the main commercial street of Atlantic Avenue. Here we get a sense of how locals shop by visiting one of the legendary Middle Eastern bakeries.
- Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain - We end our tour at one of the cutest businesses in the neighborhood, and a place where you find kids indulging in an ice cream sundae and grandparents enjoying a good old fashioned ice cream float. This revived soda fountain brings the old world and the new world together with modern twist on New York classics. And you need to hear the story about how they first began.

You may not immediately compare Brooklyn to a small town, but the hippest borough is made up of distinct community-oriented neighborhoods that thrive and blossom because of the local mom-and-pop businesses, many of which have been here for generations. Throughout this neighborhood food tour, we celebrate the businesses by telling the stories of the people involved, by sampling some of the delicious food being sold.
- Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, but please note that this tour covers 1.6 km (1 mile) of walking.

Great food & neighborhoods - Brian gave us a delicious and educational tour of Brooklyn neighborhoods and local shops. It’s amazing that Brooklyn has maintained such a local oriented food culture.

Delectable food, local lore, skilled guide make Brooklyn neighborhoods accessible - This 3-hour walking tour brings the history of three Brooklyn neighborhoods to life through the animated narration of a local guide. Walking up and down inclines, examining the structure of brownstones, seeing the country's first vest pocket park, and viewing storefronts that reflect the multiethnic fabric of the Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Carroll Garden areas was a first introduction to Brooklyn for my friend and I. We visited many locally owned small food businessed, met their proprietors and ate delectable samples along the way. Although the pizza from the coal fired furnace was astounding, there was much more than Italian represented!. Croissants from a James Beard 2018 award winning bakery, a woman owned cookie shop, delectable bagel and lox from a "culturally Jewish" deli, Syrian pita and Arabic nutshop from the mideast, concluding with a sitdown sampling of delectable chocolates provided us a true taste of the area.
Our tour guide, Mickey, was very engaging, and solicitous.

A great Brooklyn tour ! - Mickey was a great tour guide ! Very knowledgeable on the history, food, and culture of Brooklyn. Learned alot that would hard to get on our own. Highly recommend !

Fun Way to See Brooklyn - Brian Hoffman did a great job showing us the neighborhood- the food and the history. It was fun, entertaining, delicious and memorable.

Very good guide, and great food. - The guide Mickey is great and very informative. The food is brilliant.
It's a nice walk, with good spacing between stops.
I would highly recommend this company and this guide.

Brooklyn food tour with family - We went as a family. The length of the tour was perfect. It is about 3 hours, including the time spent at the food stops. The tour is a nice mix of walking, learning and food. We think that walking is a great way to experience Brooklyn first hand. Our tour guide, Mickey, was very friendly, knowledgeable and flexible and organized the food ordering, including some special requests, at all the stops. We like Brooklyn but still learned new facts and visited new food places. Overall it was a great experience for us, my kids and our visitor.

Brooklyn food tour with family - We went as a family and had a visitor with us. The length of the tour was perfect. It is about 3 hours, including the time spent at the food stops. The tour is a nice mix of walking, learning and food. We think that walking is great way to experience Brooklyn first hand. A great experience in Brooklyn - Highly recommend if looking for a great food tour that also teaches you about the area. We liked all the food stops, from the bagels to the pizza to the cookies and chocolate. Our tour guide, Jessie, was fun and knowledgeable.

Would pass on this one - We've done several of these tours in various cities and this was one of the weaker experiences. The food stops were ok but nothing really exceptional. The pizza workers seemed annoyed/surprised we were even there. I thought there could be some better storytelling or engagement from the guide, we had a lot of dead/quiet time walking between stops, the pace was slow and 3 hours felt very long.
