- Minnewater Lake - What does minnewater mean? This is the Dutch name for the lake, which is made up of two Dutch words: minne, which means both “common” and “love”, and water, which means “water”. Thus, the most correct translation would mean translating the word minne as “common”, since these were the “common waters, community waters, everyone’s water” since it was where the old port of Bruges was located, a site closely linked to the city and the daily life of its citizens.

Great overview of what to expect in Bruges - A good review of the basics of the city. Some history and a walking tour of the historic sections of the city. Guide was well versed and her English was very good. Tour gives the travelers a good idea of what they might want to return to see after the tour. Then one can fit the 30 minute boat excursion afterwards.

Recommended - Enjoyed the boat ride, Alan was a laugh and very knowledgeable. The lady who did the walking tour part (can’t remember her name) was also very knowledgeable and a great host. We do recommend this tour/company.

Excellent value. - I would have rated this trip higher except for the cruise section. Our walking guide was on time and very pleasant. She provided good commentary for the two hour walk through the old town, which was a fabulous place.
The boat cruise was also good and the captain was excellent. Beware of the ticket office employee. He is a very arrogant and rude individual. About as helpful as hemnaroids.
