Our journey will take us along the trails of Serra da Calçada, a designated Natural Monument within the larger Serra do Espinhaço region, offering a chance to encounter a variety of native plant species, including the rhea cinnamon, wolf apple, immortelle, among others. The hike begins near the Retiro das Pedras residential community and spans approximately 8 kilometers, with an estimated 1 hour and 30 minutes to ascend and 1 hour and 20 minutes for the return. The trek is easy, along a path leading to a breathtaking scenic overlook, offering views of Serra do Rola Moça, neighboring districts, and housing developments, as well as the historical Brumadinho Fort, an ancient stone structure from the gold rush era. We conclude our outing with camaraderie at the renowned Bar do Marcinho in Macacos, also known as São Sebastião das Águas Claras, a picturesque neighborhood in Nova Lima.
