- Beirut - 8:30 AM — Departure from Beirut
Your private guide and vehicle will pick you up from your hotel in Beirut. The journey north takes you along the coastal highway before ascending steeply into the Lebanese mountains. As you gain altitude, the scenery transforms from Mediterranean shores to cedar-forested peaks.
- Qadisha Valley - The first stop is the most striking — the edge of the Qadisha Valley, one of the deepest and most stunning gorges in the Middle East. “Qadisha” means “Holy” in Aramaic, a name it earned over seventeen centuries of Christian monasticism. Hermits, monks, and entire religious communities carved their churches and cells directly into its sheer limestone cliffs to escape persecution. Standing at the viewpoint, the vastness of the valley below is truly awe-inspiring. Your guide will point out the cliff monasteries visible in the rock face below and share the stories of the communities that once inhabited this gorge.
- Bcharre - Drive into Bcharre, a proud, stone-built mountain town situated over 1,400 meters above sea level on the edge of the Qadisha gorge. As one of the highest permanently inhabited towns in Lebanon, Bcharre has a strong independent spirit that influenced its most famous resident. Stop for photos of the town, the valley below, and the cedar-covered mountain ridge above — a panorama that encapsulates the essence of northern Lebanon in a single frame.
- Gibran Museum - Visit the museum dedicated to Khalil Gibran, the Lebanese-American poet, philosopher, and painter whose book “The Prophet” has sold over 100 million copies and been translated into more than 100 languages, making it one of the best-selling books of the 20th century. The museum is located in a former Carmelite monastery carved into the cliff above Bcharre and contains an extraordinary collection of Gibran’s original oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, and personal manuscripts. His tomb is also here, in the cave chapel at the heart of the monastery, exactly where he wished to be buried.

Bcharre - Lunch in Bcharre — mountain village restaurant
Take a well-deserved break at one of Bcharre’s traditional mountain restaurants, set among stone terraces with sweeping views over the Qadisha Valley below. Lebanese mountain cuisine is some of the most hearty and satisfying in the country — think fresh mezze, grilled meats, mountain bread, and locally produced olive oil, all served at altitude with crisp mountain air and valley panoramas as your backdrop. A perfect pause before the walk among the cedars. - The Cedars of God - The final and most unforgettable stop of the day is the Cedars of God — a UNESCO-protected ancient grove of cedar trees at 2,000 meters above sea level, some of which are over 1,000 years old and measure more than 14 meters in circumference. These are the descendants of the vast cedar forests that once covered the Lebanese mountains and made Phoenicia the greatest maritime power of the ancient world — their timber used to build the ships of Byblos, the temples of Solomon, and the palaces of Egypt. A gentle 45-minute walk along the marked trail takes you through the grove, among trees of extraordinary scale and silence. Your guide will explain the ecological significance of this protected forest and the millennia of history written in its ancient trunks.

Certain locations in Lebanon are truly breathtaking. The Qadisha Valley is one such place — a UNESCO World Heritage site, this gorge is so deep and ancient that Christian monks have sought refuge in its cliff-side monasteries since the 4th century. The Cedars of God, located above the valley, is another remarkable site — a grove of cedar trees so ancient that some were already old when the Phoenicians used their neighbors to construct the ships that established Carthage.
This exclusive full-day tour from Beirut offers visits to both sites, as well as the mountain town of Bcharre — the birthplace of Khalil Gibran, Lebanon’s most renowned poet and author of The Prophet. The tour includes a visit to his intimate hilltop museum, which houses his paintings, manuscripts, and the tomb he chose for his final resting place.
With a private vehicle and guide at your complete disposal, the day unfolds at your own pace — whether it’s taking time at the valley viewpoint, wandering through Bcharre’s charming stone streets, or quietly strolling among trees that have stood for over a millennium.
