Highlights
  • Ateneul Român - At the top of the list of Bucharest’s must-see attractions is the iconic Romanian Athenaeum building. This magnificent concert hall is considered by many to be the most beautiful building in the city and it also has an incredible story.
  • Statuia Ecvestră a Lui Carol I - Next, you will hear captivating stories about kings and the world wars in the shadow of King Carol’s statue.
  • Piața Revoluției - In contrast to the structures from the royal period stands Revolution Square. Here you’ll find the former headquarters of the Communist Party. Besides this, in the square you will discover the life story of the infamous dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. Most importantly, you will get a glimpse into the communist oppression in Romania and the first live-streamed revolution in the world.
  • Calea Victoriei - In the first half of the tour, we shall walk along this most famous historical street in Bucharest and take in the many landmarks here. We shall stop at the statue of the first Romanian king, the former Royal Palace, as well as in Revolution Square, near the former headquarters of the Communist Party. Here is the best place to hear intriguing stories about monarchy and war, as well as the rise and fall of the infamous dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu.
  • Universitate - In the middle of the tour, we will stop at a historical café and cake shop, the oldest in Bucharest. Here you will enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and decor, while sipping a cup of coffee and savoring some delicious Romanian cakes.
  • Old Town - Afterwards, we will walk on the quaint cobblestone streets of the Old Town. Medieval Oriental inns, small 19th-century merchant houses, and imposing palaces await you here with many great tales. During the Old Town walk, you’ll also see the essential sights from this famous quarter in Bucharest as well as go inside the most famous bookshop in Romania.
  • Macca Villacrosse Passage - The center of trade and finance in Bucharest was located downtown and during the end of the 19th century, several commercial passages modeled after Paris were created here. The one you will visit is the most impressive and surprising passage in Bucharest.
  • BNR Palace - Built during the 1880s, the palace that houses the institution of the National Bank of Romania is a superb example of French architecture. Here you will discover the intriguing history of the Romanian currency, as well as the curious way in which locals think of prices.
  • Manuc’s Inn (Hanul lui Manuc) - Since Bucharest was influenced for several centuries by the culture of the Ottoman Empire, the city used to feature many Oriental-style buildings. One of the few structures from that period that’s still standing and thriving is Manuc’s Inn, a former caravanserai and a wonderful place that takes us back in time to the early 1800s.
  • Stavropoleos Monastery - Visit the most beautiful church in Bucharest and one of the few active monasteries in the city. This place is a treasure of Romanian architecture and a space of tranquility.
  • Palace of Parliament - Known as the largest administrative building in Europe, the Palace of the Parliament is a monumental construction from Romania’s communist past under the command of the megalomaniac dictator Ceaușescu. You will not only be amazed by the sheer size of this building but also by the story of how it was made, which saw over 20,000 houses destroyed in the central part of Bucharest. However, it is very inspiring to discover that behind the facades of Ceaușescu’s new constructions, there are still a few hidden old houses as well as churches that survived the demolition frenzy. We will only see this building from the outside.

Great tour with Bianca around many spots of old town Bucharest. - We came from Ireland and didn't know what to expect from a tour of Bucharest as we knew very little about the place, but we were dying to find out about the city's history. Bianca was a fantastic tour guide who was able to seamlessly bring us through time from the myths and history of the founding of Bucharest to the city modern times, along with some personal anecdotes, too. There wasn't a stop on this tour that I didn't enjoy and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bucharest.

Excellent tour with Jesus - Good route walking through the center of Bucharest with all the interesting and necessary points for a first contact with the city. Highly recommended to do it on the first day and visit Parliament on your own at the end. Great, fun and interesting guide. As well as good tips for visiting places on your own. Any tip was worthless to us, thank you Jesus!

A great experience and I am from Romania, so you can imagine how cool is it if you're a tourist. - The guide, Stefan, was amazing. Very charismatic, funny and engaging. I loved the fact that I was not bored with all sorts of historical details and he told a lot of more wierd and funny historical facts or happenings.
