Book Vlad - seriously! - We had 2 private, half-day tours with Vlad Chiciudean in Bucharest - the city under Ceausescu and the history of Bucharest's Jews. Vlad is smart, funny, super knowledgeable and not only prepared to answer every single question you might have but also to share personal stories that put a human face to the facts. We like experiences that are off the beaten tourist track and Vlad took us to places that I'm pretty sure few visitors have seen. The marble floors, extracted from limestone taken from the Apuseni Mountains, of a subway station, that featured prehistoric fossils. We're still talking about what we learned. If Vlad lived in our town, I'd invite him to dinner!

Top Quality tour - The price was good for 4 of us, but that was given even more value by the fact it was just the 4 of us on the tour. We were met at reception by Florin. He was very friendly and made it clear to us what the tour entailed and that flexibility was down to us, spend more time at X and maybe less at Y etc. We were then taken around Bucharest for a good 6 hours, including the fantastic Palace of Parliament, the Village Museum and many other sights of interest. The price included entrance to both these and both were very well worth seeing, the palace is truly stunning in scale. Florin had an extensive knowledge of Romanian history and was willing to answer any questions we had and to listen to our perspective of what we knew and had been presented about Romania through our lives......some very big gaps between Western eyes and the real feelings of Romanians at times. Thank you to Florin for making the whole day interesting and intriguing. Thank you to Viator for keeping up your record of ensuring the tours are of the highest quality and further enhancing the city-break experience.

wonderful introduction to Bucharest - This full day tour served as our introduction to Bucharest and it far exceeded my expectations. Our guide Alex was very knowledgeable, supplemented the information at the visited sites with valuable additions and insights, answered all of our questions, and arranged our day so as to minimize waits, the oppressive heat and in an order that gave us the best one-day tour of the city. The Village Museum will give you a great start if you plan to explore beyond Bucharest and the Places of Parl. are simply a must! Alex was also a real wiz at Bucharest traffic, which can save the day, and to top it off, he had an amazing recommendation for dinner. Great tour, great guide.

Well organised tour - We did the Bucharest city tour which takes in the People's Palace, the Old Town and the Village Museum with lunch at an old Art Nouveau restaurant called Caru cu Bere (please mote the cost of lunch is not included in the tour price). Our guide was Christi and he was very knowledgeable and informative and made the tour enjoyable for us. The day was very hot and we found it a bit tiring - there is quite a bit of walking - if the day had not be 30 centigrade it might have been less so. Christi explained about the demolition of part of the city to allow Ceaucescu to build the 2nd largest building in the world, thus setting the scene for the tour of the interior....which is of necessity led by a Palace guide. He also showed us the place where Ceaucescu made his final speech and escaped by helicopter bringing the history alive. Christi was also very helpful with comments and suggestions for the rest of our tour of Romania and Bulgaria. I would definitely use Rolandia again - their organisation was first class. A bit expensive but then you get what you pay for. Recommend highly.
