Almost unique experience - The salt mine is extremely impressive. The huge underground halls are just amazing. The trip itself is well planed: it about two hours driving from Bucharest, about two hours to enter the mine (via the underground tunnel) and the way back.

Amazing salt mines near Bucharest - Amazing relatively short tour. You will be giving 2h to explore mines yourself. Possibility to watch short movies in igloos. Coffee and souvenir shop on site

Stunning attraction - Excellent trip out. The scenery enroute was stunning. The mine itself is great - it is huge and beautiful but also rather cold - be aware.. :-) We played crazy golf and strolled around and stopped at the cafe. Highly recommended.

Salt mine experience - The mine is amazing. It is vast and beautiful. Two hours in the mine is just a bit too long unless you have a guide taking you around and speaking. Our guide dropped us off and said see you in two hours. We brought a bag lunch and ate there and then toured the chambers on our own. Worth it to see the mine in person.

Salt mines Romania - Awe inspiring salt mine. It's sheer size blew me away. Not sure what to expect but was enjoyable. Not the same as Krakow salt mines but still worth a visit.

Long day - It is what it says it is. Don't expect anything else. The driver picked us up at 8:35 am and drove us for 2 hours to a large car park. There were 8 people on the tour, plus the driver, in a small minivan. At the car park the driver disembarked and we followed him to a long ticket queue. He disappeared with no explanation and we waited confused. He reappeared with tickets and told us to meet him by the van at 12:20 (giving us only 1 hour 30 minutes in the mine by the time he bought tickets). Tickets to the mine were included in the price but that was the only perk. The driver directed us to another van which we boarded with 10 other people. This bus took us down into the mine itself. The drive was another 10 minutes each way. The mine itself was very impressive and worth the long journey. But I would not recommend the tour company, Gray Line Romania. No one explained anything about the history of the mine or the area to us. Trh website says Unirea mine is known for healing benefits and spa, but none of this was mentioned. Bring warm layers and your own snacks as there is not much down there. The website said the tour was approximately 7 hours, 8:30-3:30pm, but we got less time in the mine than promised and returned to Bucharest early at 2:30. The only stop was at the mine for 1 hour and 30 minutes. By the time we had waited for space on the buses and travelled the extra 10 minutes in and out the mine, we only had 1 hour of free time. This wasn't enough to get any lunch or enjoy the sunshine. The driver hardly spoke to us and provided no instructions on how the day would turn out. Overall, it was a tiring day for 1 hour in a mine.

Huge Mine - The salt mine was huge, but relatively undeveloped, especially when compared to the one in Poland. Long drive for what we saw.

Good place, misused. - The mine is magnificent. Unfortunately, the information offered to the visitor is virtually nil. It does not explain the process of exploitation of the mine, the production it had, stories, anecdotes, nothing. Illustrative material is quite poor. Lack of design with character of museography, signage, etc. I find the attractions inside unnecessary.
