Vidraru Dam - Vidraru Dam is one of Romania’s largest hydroelectric dams. Located at the start of the Argeș River, it was constructed between 1960 and 1965 and stands 166 meters (545 feet) tall. The dam creates a lake with an average capacity of 465 million cubic meters (16.2 billion cubic feet) and covers an area of 22.5 square kilometers (8.7 square miles). Balea Lake - Reach the summit at Bâlea Lake, a glacier lake situated at an altitude of 2,034 meters in the Făgăraș Mountains, central Romania, in Sibiu County. During winter, two chalets are set up on the lake, along with a year-round meteorological station, a mountain rescue outpost, and shepherds who still traverse the mountain following traditional routes. The location is accessible by car via the Transfăgărășan road in summer and by cable car from Bâlea the rest of the year.
