A memorable, relaxing trip on a serene river, in the beautiful New Forest - My husband and I were offered a trip o the Beaulieu River. So we went on the 11th Of September, When we booked for our trip, we mentioned that, we both have severe walking dificulties . So , straight away, Emily Louise, the receptionist/organiser arranged with her colleagues, for us to have an experience as easy and comfortable as possible. So when we arrived at Bucklers Hard we were asked to go to the Chandlery, where an employee welcomed us. She was extremely kind and helpful, and told us that the boat skipper would come to collect us. Jeff the skipper guided us to his boat, which he had moored as near as possible to us. Jeff was very helpful and lifted my rollator on the boat. Marcus , ornithologist and company director, joined us and we started our trip on The river. Only ten of us were on this most enjoyable journey. Marcus kindly pointed out any bird visible near us (ospreys, Marsh harrier, Goss Hawk an ravens and many others more common wders) we also were delighted to see a young harbour Seal hauled on the bank. The whole 2.30 hrs journey was very serene and relaxing. The weather was just right and the gentle summer breeze was a bonus. So I would recommend the Beaulieu River boat trip to anyone with a love of Nature. Thank you so much to all the kind people who made our experience easy and memorable.

A great experience - The boat trip run by Marcus down the Beaulieu River from Bucklers Hard was fantastic. Marcus pointed pointed out a variety of birds and other interesting facts about the river and surrounding areas. Tea and biscuits were provided during the trip while bobbing along down the river. The boat went at a very sedate speed, allowing all the views and wildlife to be taken in. Marcus and Emily were amazing hosts and so friendly and helpful. Arrangements were first class, with detailed instructions sent in advance about meeting place, access codes to the Marina etc. Their knowledge is first class and they were so keen and passionate about the New Forest and their walks - ensuring that everyone enjoyed it. We would highly recommend their walks and trips. We also went on the Wildlife Wander Walk from the Bell Inn and the evening walk around Keyhaven, which Marcus and Emily run.

What a wonderful river experience! - What a brilliant trip on the Lazy Daze boat…wildlife expert Marcus provides a fascinating and in depth running commentary of the species of birds and seals seen on the route up and down the beautiful Beaulieu River and into the Solent. An unforgettable experience and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Just go!

Thoroughly enjoyable boat trip! - A good variety of birds seen! Makes for some interesting perspectives if you’re a photographer as you’re shooting into the shore 👍🏻 nice to see ground nesting birds close without disturbing them and had some interesting fly by’s. Thoroughly enjoyable! Marcus and Steve are gentleman, and extremely knowledgable. No egos, just an all round fun trip.

Excellent Boat Tour - This is a wonderful trip in a beautiful area of Hampshire, rich in both history and natural history. The weather was a little unkind on my trip but nevertheless probably fairly typical for February in the UK. The pre trip communication was good and I had no trouble finding the embarkation point. Everyone involved from the boat captain to the reception staff in the marina couldn't have been more helpful. Marcus, as leader of the tour was spot on - always on the lookout for wildlife and a walking encyclopaedia of information about both the birdlife and the surrounding area. This was the highlight for me - not just the chance of seeing something different - but having id's etc explained by an obvious expert. I can confidently recommend this tour - I hope to go again as I would love to share the experience with my wife - but she is definitely a ‘warm weather girl’ so for her sake, I’ll wait until a little later in the year!

Wonderful way to enjoy time on the river - I have done this boat trip several times now and every time I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. Highlights have included seal, white-tailed eagle, peregrine falcon, goshawk, osprey, spoonbill, common, sandwich, and arctic terns, and a wide variety of waders. Conditions permitting you might get a little way onto the Solent, sometimes the boat goes a little further up the Beaulieu river. Aside from the wildlife, its pleasant to just be out on the water, soaking it all in. The guide Marcus and skipper Jeff both work hard to ensure everyone sees as much as possible, and everyone has a nice time. I find them both friendly and professional.

Always fantastic - Absolutely the most amazing trip. We now try to do it every month. The sun doesn't always shine and we have had a few trips cancelled due to bad weather -but when the boat runs it has always delivered for us. Seals are almost always seen, depending on the season ospreys, spoonbills, eagles, peregrine falcon even courting goshawks. Marcus who leads the trip has an incredible knowledge of the area , birds and wildlife - and an incredible ability to communicate with experts and novices alike. I would thoroughly recommend this trip and the organisation.

Poor organisation and unprofessional - The weather forecast had been predicted as bad (by BBC weather) for several days prior to the trip taking place and it's a shame the organisers didn't take heed of that! Several times over the course of the 48 hours prior, I questioned whether the trip was going to proceed because of this, and was told by email 8 hours before the trip (and I quote) 'I have discussed with the skipper and we have decided to go ahead with the trip tomorrow, the forecast continues to be mixed, depending where you look. Fingers crossed!' Now, in my opinion 'crossing your fingers' as he quoted, certainly didn't bode well and if he was relying on that to make the trip a success then surely it would have been more appropriate to cancel and reschedule! On the morning of the trip on the way there, with the rain pouring down our car window screen, I phoned again just to confirm it was (unbelievably) still going ahead and was told 'it's only misty drizzle' - which is rain but he seemed not to want to use that word! There was a breakdown in communications in the form of an email, that he claimed he had sent, that gave information of the location to pick the boat up from. I'm not sure where it was sent to but it never arrived, and consequently my wife spent 30 minutes desperately walking around and around Buckler's Hard in the drizzle looking for the right boat - even the information centre knew nothing about where the right place was. Eventually she found the organiser and there was no apology forthcoming just an insistence that he had sent the email with a doubtful look on his face! My wife had no reason to say she hadn't received it and all the communications were being delivered to the same email file so if it was sent then where did it go? This resulted in the other people on the trip being delayed so my wife was not flavour of the day as she boarded. The weather was, unsurprisingly, not good for the duration of the trip with mist and reduced visibility being the main problems. It's not something I, nor my wife, would go on a again because of the seemingly lack of organisation and unprofessionalism that abounds in this company. Note also, that there is a lack of seats on the boat (room for just 3 people to sit down) so if you have trouble standing for 2.5 hours then this may well not be the trip for you. £35 is a lot of money to pay for this type of experience!
