Embark on Budapest’s inaugural culinary journey (started in 2008) that showcases the traditional flavors, distinctive wines, and the compelling history and architecture of Hungary. This tour lets you explore the timeless aspects of Hungarian cuisine along with the modern artisan creators and interesting specialty stores adding zest to the city’s food experience. We commence our exploration at the Central Market- the food mecca of Budapest where you’ll get acquainted with the diversity of Hungarian cuisine. Here, we’ll talk about the architecture, the food and beverage habits of Hungarians, signature dishes, and how Hungarian chefs use pork fat, paprika, and goose liver. We’ll also sample a variety of foods and enjoy a pre-meal drink. A sumptuous lunch awaits at a traditional butcher’s shop, followed by a taste of the renowned Hungarian pastries at an old-world café. We’ll also stop by an award-winning chocolate maker, and end our tour with a detailed wine-tasting session led by a sommelier featuring 3 outstanding local wines (including the special Tokaji Aszú), accompanied by artisan cheese. Don’t forget to bring your appetite!
