Fabulous Guide and Tour - We took Timea's tour having seen her web page and communicated in advance by email. She was the best guide - taking us to known and unknown places we would never have found alone. She is also most knowledgeable about the history of the city and the people, sharing with us her personal experiences growing up under the communist regime. She was engaging and interesting throughout and we are so glad we booked.

Highlight of our trip. Engaging, knowledgable, personal. - My son and I visited Budapest, where my father survived the holocaust as a child, and remained in Budapest until he escaped the Hungarian revolution in 1956 and made it to the U.S. Our tour with Timea was an absolute highlight of our travels. Timea is a wonderful guide because she is engaging and warm, and has first-hand and intimate understanding of the Jewish district. She draws on her knowledge of history, as well as her family stories and childhood memories; and she is active and engaged in the community today. Timea shared generously from her family's stories and the story of her life today. For example, we heard the sadness in her perspective of the "Ruin bars" which are bars that have opened in buildings that used to house Jewish-owned businesses and residences, and later tenement homes, and are now places where people go to binge drink and party. We walked through one of these buildings during a morning market and Timea helped us imagine it's former existences. We heard how the Jewish community sustains itself by holding concerts in the beautiful synagogues, and the clever ways they do so while keeping the space kosher. Throughout our tour, Timea pointed out architectural details which illustrated the Jewish community's efforts to assimilate by including symbols of Christianity and Islam in their decor. We stopped at a cafe and shared stories of food and family. Our time together included sharing our family histories which are very similar except that my dad left Hungary and her family stayed. I felt a kinship with Timea and had things been slightly different, I could be leading her life and she could be leading mine. It was a special tour that I won't forget.

Timea is an outstanding guide - Timea is a very special and uniquely qualified guide about Budapest in general and Jewish sites and history of Budapest in particular. This was one of the best tours we've taken. It was informative, enjoyable and moving. Our entire family connected with Timea - her passion for Budapest, her knowledge, and her approach to educating others. Most highly recommended.

Incredible tour - must-book - Timea was a truly tremendous guide. The word "guide" doesn't even do her justice. She's an educator and a deeply empathetic and intelligent person. We took in so much information over the course of our few hours, but never did we feel rushed or overwhelmed. When moments called for reflection, we were quiet. When we needed to know some key info, Timea was sure to elucidate that and explain. This was one of the best Jewish tours we've ever been on, and trust me, my family has been on plenty!!

Wonderful Jewish Tour of Budapest - My wife and I experienced a number of the wonderful Jewish sites of Budapest (including many off the beaten track) with Timea on her half day tour. Timea, being a Jewish Budapest local and teacher / historian, taught us much about the Jewish and Communist history of Budapest. Our tour was conducted at a nice, unhurried pace. Timea also has a lovely manner - we quickly became 'friends' and I would highly recommend her tour for a personalised local insight into Budapest.

Timea will be the highlight of your trip to Budapest - Today, we had the privilege of taking a tour with Timea. We have taken private tours around the world, and Timea stands out. She weaves her personal experience into the excellent historical narrative she provides. She does so without embellishments or sensationalizing history, which we appreciate. My husband is a retired professor and internationally recognized scholar, and he gives her an A+.

An extremely memorable tour - I felt like we (my sister and I), were connecting with a long lost cousin with Timea. She was so warm, her energy was incredible. She is so knowledgeable about all things Jewish, Hungarian and the history of Jews in Hungary, especially Budapest. Timea is still extremely active in the Jewish community, and has preserved her Jewish faith along to her four children. It was fascinating to hear about the Jewish community that exists now in Budapest. Our family on our fathers side was Hungarian and I just assumed mainly all the Jews had left after the Holocaust, but there is still a strong Jewish community in Budapest, which gives me lots of hope and shows the resilience of our people. The Jews live on..B’H
