A Purr-fectly Quirky Gem! - The Cat Museum in Budapest is a delightful hidden gem for cat lovers and curious visitors alike. It’s small but packed with charm, humour, and an eclectic collection of feline-themed art, antiques, and quirky items from around the world. The staff were friendly and passionate about cats, which added to the warm and welcoming vibe. Every corner had something interesting or amusing to discover—from vintage posters to whimsical sculptures and interactive displays. Whether you’re a lifelong cat enthusiast or just looking for something a bit different, this museum is worth a visit. Fun, creative, and a great way to spend an hour or so off the beaten path.

Very nice - Small but unique museum, organised, friendly staff. Has educational things about cats, the cats well treated clean and everything nice, they mostly sleepy during the day which is very normal for them don’t get surprised. Overall cozy vibe. As vet nurse I really liked the environment. Was with my bf and enjoyed every second of it. Recommended to my friends and if I will be in Budapest again I would visit again.

Complete Zen experience for any lover of cats - Hard to describe how I felt here! From the moment I arrived, I could see that these cats are so well cared for. You can see some of them when they come up to the door. There is absolutely NO oversubscribing for their benefit, meaning that you can only enter once the first group (small group) leaves. The place is so zen. The cats are incredibly chilled and happy to be touched, but you absolutely MUST understand cats to go here. Do NOT chase them or lift them, or force them to come to you. The whole place is for them - it's their home and they welcome us into it. Beautiful chilled music plays and you are welcome to sit in many of the hugely comfortable seats or bin bags and just relax as a cat would. You actually feel like a cat while you're there! Every single one of them is so beautiful, and it was a great experience for me to see some breeds that I hadn't seen before. They all, amazingly, blend together and get on together very well. Anubis was my favourite, but they are all stunning. The staff are clearly cat people and are incredibly kind and helpful. The only rule here is to respect the cats. I didn't want to leave. We can learn a lot from these beautiful creatures. I will definitely return if I visit Budapest again.

Purrfect Afternoon - I had a fantastic time! It's cozy and filled with fun feline art and interesting cat tales. If you love cats (like I do!), it’s a must-visit. Definitely an enjoyable experience

Small museum with a quiet atmosphere but little variety - The museum offers a calm and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for visitors who want to engage with the exhibition in peace. However, there is no guided tour, but only a nine-minute audio guide, which is informative but not very in-depth. The museum itself is rather small and more suitable for people who are really interested in the subject – those looking for action or interactive experiences will probably be disappointed here. The scheduled visit time is 1.5 hours, but after only 45 minutes we felt we had seen everything. The available games offered a bit of variety, but could not quite compensate for the boredom.

Cat lovers delight - Must see if you love cats. Or if your partner loves cats! Lots of interesting facts to be discovered here. Every kind of cat art on display. Cats were mostly very docile during our visit but they can be playful too.

Nice but not really museum - Cute but quite restricted in terms of museum, which did not really bother me since to be honest I was rather there to enjoy the cats! It was a lovely time with very cute cats , the staff was very friendly too

For cat lovers only - Small area, like a converted house. Approx 10 cats, and cats being cats are asleep most of the time. Friendly staff and a hot drink from the machine included. Lots of cat pictures and photos. A video on the projector tells some history but not your typical museum. The money supports the cats, so well worth it for that alone.
