Everyone will prepare the same menu, and if you are the first to book, you can select one menu from the five options below.
During the cooking session, you’ll have the opportunity to taste typical local ingredients and learn about Hungary, its cuisine, customs, and history. At the end of the cooking, we will dine together, enjoying the fruits of your labor with a glass of Hungarian wine. You’ll also receive the recipes to take home with you.

A Trip Highlight for our Family!! - Do not miss the opportunity to take a cooking class with Marti! She is such a pro - an incredibly talented chef, friendly, funny and so hospitable. She made us feel like guests in her home and managed to stay perfectly on task so the meal ended right on time. And the food?! SOOOO delicious!
We went as a family with a 16 yo and a 13 yo and they said it was one of the highlights of the trip. Don't hesitate to sign-up for a class with her!

Give yourself a Goulash & Gundel treat! - During our trip to Budapest, my husband and I decided to learn something about Hungarian food through taking a cooking lesson from local chef, Marti (who was recommended by travel guru Rick Steves). We met for several hours in Marti’s spacious downtown Budapest kitchen where she welcomed us w local beverages (hard and non-alcoholic herbal, your choice). We learned to make a sour cherry soup as a starter. Next, with Marti guiding us through every step, we put together a truly mouthwatering Chicken Paprikash dish served over spaetzle (which we also made, easiest method ever)! For dessert, we crafted crepes [aka Gundel pancakes], stuffed them, and rolled them up and into a dish to bake. The result was pure dessert heaven!! Then we sat to enjoy the feast, w good conversation and a bit more wine!! Single best food-n-lesson-n-fun experience of our trip!!!

Great Food and Wonderful Experience! - I was so happy we booked this cooking class. After two weeks of travel and disembarking from a river cruise earlier that day, we were tired. Despite thinking about cancelling, we went anyway and had the best time. Marti is amazing. She shared about their culture and taught us some new cooking tricks! The food was fantastic! I would HIGHLY recommend skipping the restaurant and booking this culinary experience for dinner instead!

Delicious evening in Budapest - Wonderful 4 hour cooking class and subsequent dinner! Marti has a well appointed cooking studio. My husband & I, close friends and a family worked together with Marti to make sour cherry soup, chicken paprikash and an amazing 4 layer cake with apricot layers and chocolate icing. So much fun and learned a lot about Hungarian cooking. Ingredients and social history. Highly recommended as a delicious way to spend an evening in Budapest.

A wonderful experience - We loved this. Marti is warm, smart and an excellent cook and teacher. We were two couples who were paired with a family of 4, and even their two teenagers had a great time. It worked out great.
We made sour cherry soup, chicken paprikash and walnut chocolate torte. Absolutely delicious.

No longer hungry in Hungary! - This cooking class was so wonderful. Marti is a natural teacher. We had sampled chicken paprikash earlier in our trip, so we were thrilled that we can now recreate it back in Texas. We had no idea what to expect of sour cherry soup, but thoroughly enjoyed this cold soup and are looking forward to cooking in during our hot summers. We had such an enjoyable evening cooking, drinking wine, and learning more about the history and culture of Hungary. Marti made some wonderful appetizers for us to snack on as we cooked, so we were stuffed by the end of the night!

A Delicious and Unforgettable Experience! - We had an incredible time during this cooking experience! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, and the atmosphere in the kitchen was so warm and welcoming.
The dishes we prepared were absolutely delicious, and we learned so many useful tips that we can't wait to try again at home. Beyond the food, it was just such a fun and memorable moment to share together.
Thank you so much for your kindness, professionalism, and passion. We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic and tasty culinary moment!

Yes, you want to make your own Hungarian dinner! - This was a really fun class with delicious results! Marti arranged a menu that required just the right amount of work for us to get everything done without having to work too hard. Our dishes included chilled sour cherry soup, chicken paprikash, and gundel pancakes. For the chicken paprikash in particular, I think that's a recipe that people can find intimidating, but, seeing it done, you realize it's not so bad (plus it's delicious). We had a little break for snacks and wine partway through, so don't worry about getting peckish! Marti was a great teacher--skilled and enthusiastic, and it was interesting to hear little bits of history and culture from her. Would recommend this class!

Tasty food, great hostess - Very nice hostess. While cooking , she gladly answered all our questions about Hungarian culture 😄😄 good conversation.
We were so lucky to only be the two of us, since it was low season for tourism, so we had the entire place to ourselves.
The food was really tasty and easy to make, and we felt very well taken care of.
Central location in 7th district. Would recommend!

Great tour with Endre - Endre was excellent. Very personable. His knowledge is far above that of other tour guides we have used. He provides a lot of insight and is not afraid to address the more difficult or sensitive questions that come up. Highly recommend.
