Amazing walking tour - We went on 2 tours during our trip to Budapest - one of the sights of Pest with Judy and a communism one with Aggie. Both guides were excellent! Both were very friendly, engaging and they really knew their stuff. I would absolutely recommend a tour with Free Budapest Walking Tours. We had a lovely time on both tours and learned so much! Thank you both Judy and Aggie!

Best tour ever - Honestly this was the best tour I’ve ever done. Agi did our communism tour and Judit did the tour around the city. They were so knowledgeable about Hungarian history. But more importantly you could see their passion come through, driven by their own experiences too. This really came through with how they explained everything and I just wanted to sit down for hours and ask more about Hungarian history. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone going to Budapest

Wonderful tour by Gary! - My friend and I really enjoyed this insightful and engaging walking tour about the communist (and some general) history of Budapest/Hungary by Gary. He was a great guide who had told us many interesting stories about Soviet era Hungary, including some personal stories from his family! Even though the weather wasn’t ideal and it was absolutely freezing, it was 100% worth it! I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone interested in the communist history of Budapest and Hungary as well as its general history!

A great experience even under the rain! - I strong reccommend this tour. I was a positive surprise for me. I have lived in Budapest for 4 years, but I have learned a lot from our guide Ági. She mixed history and official narratives with her own experiences and gave me a grear perspective about how was the life before redemocratization. The tour is very informative and covers many areas such architeture, education, sports, politics, civil rights and so on. I could feel that all members of the group were captured by her energy. It was a rainy day but I am sure that nobody cared, the tour worth it!

Not very insightful if you are a Communist. - About the (anti) Communist tour: Just want to leave here a comradely reminder in case any other communist is interested in going on the Communist tour. It's a tour full of the common sense anti communist talk and the critic is actually very superficial as well. So if you are looking for something insightful from the communism perspective the tour won't do much, but if you dislike communism then it might be good for you haha. Ps: it was really hard to hear that Karl Marx was against religions using erroneously and distorting the quote "religion is the opium of the people" and not say anything hahaha The guide was really nice, the bit about the Hungarian history/foundation was really the strength of the tour.
