Amazing vistas & great lunch - Great original itinerary but had to amend due to the Danube flooding. Had a scenic country ride from city to city & back to Budapest. Vista spots were beautiful. Lunch venue was breath-taking.

A nice trip - An interesting experience, led by an excellent guide, that involve a bus tour past an importing castle, beautiful scenery and quaint downtown Sentender, completed by a boat ride back to Budapest. The mid-trip lunch was not memorable.

full day, not a lot seen - EUrama sightseeing tour - Booked the Danube Bend Tour with lunch I paid extra for hotel pick up in Budapest, driver was exactly on time, and even with traffic was able to get me to the bus starting point on time. Tour advertisement and brochure description copy/pasted below my review. I booked this tour in-person from EURama directly at their office in Budapest. When the advertisement and employee say you make a short visit to Slovakia, let me emphasize ‘short’. It was a 6-minute photo stop to look across the Danube and take a picture, then get back on the bus. When it notes that ‘we show you a great view of the Danube Valley at Visegrad /former royal residence, they also promote that aspect speaking of the tour when selling it. Well, they neglect to say it’ll be from a distance and if cloudy you will never see it. We did not actually go to the royal residence and get to see it, whether from the bus or outside the bus. Never saw it. Bonus was the tour guide, ADAM. He’s a wealth of information and great tour guide. Can tell he enjoys what he does and has a passion for sharing information. Bonus was also the tour did get the return along the Danube River, even though it was early October and after Oct 1. The 3 course lunch was delicious. Nice restaurant on a mountain. I’m sure on a nice day would be a great view from there. Highlight, and most time allotted to explore, was Szentendre. Lovely artist’s village to explore and walk around the hilly streets and along the main strip. Great restaurant and café options to pop in and enjoy. Overall, felt that this tour sells a full day of experiences, but moreso felt like a day on a bus with limited experiences for the price paid. BROCHURE: (3 historic places in 1 day) – We make a short visit by bus to Slovakia and drive back to Esztergom, (Center of the Catholic Church) – interior visit of the Cathedral and after that we show you a great view of the Danube Valley at Visegrád (the former Royal Residence). After the Lunch (3-course menu with 1 mineral water) – we carry on to Szentendre (guided walk in the Artist’s village) at the end of the tour we return to Budapest on the Danube by public scheduled boat (from April 28 until the 1st of October) (Duration: 1 hour) – the tour ends at the Pier/City Centre. • The Danube Bend • Visegrád • Royal Residence • 3-course menu • Esztergom • Interior visit of the Cathedral • Slovakia (photostop) • Artists’ Village Szentendre (guided walk) • Return by public boat (Boat trip April 28 – 1st of October)

Read the fine print - While a good trip not as expected. You do not go to Visegrad Castle (just see it from a distance) and the only time on the Danube was on a public transport boat back to Budapest that was sweltering hot and packed with commuters.

Skip the lunch, more time elsewhere - I felt this experience would be a good way to see a few places outside of Budapest when I was in Hungary. Unfortunately it was just not enough time in each of the locations and the lunch was a bit of a disappointment. I wish we had spent more time in Esztergorm than just at the cathedral because it looked like a nice town. Instead we spent more time on the coach going to our lunch location (partly due to a detour we had to take because of flooding). Sadly the lunch was in a restaurant that just overlooked Visegrad and we didn't go to the fort at all. The lunch was pretty mediocre and lukewarm and also took up too much time in the day. I enjoyed visiting Szentendre but sadly only spent an hour there total. I wish the tour therefore could be more time in Esztergorm, a visit to Visegrad itself and then Szentendre, where you could get the option to have lunch there.

No Danube Bend seen on this tour. - This tour states that you will get a “Photo stop at hilltop Visegrad Castle, overlooking the Danube Bend”. But we didn’t! We didn’t go to Visegrad castle and we never saw the Danube Bend. Very Disappointing. The rest of the tour was ok.

Overall, this was a deeply disappointing experience. - The day started with a 20-minute walk from our hotel to the meeting point. From there, we were picked up by a coach and driven to a bridge, where we were dropped off for 30 minutes. Unfortunately, this was in the scorching 36°C heat, with no shade to offer any relief. Next, we were taken to a historical church, where we were left for an hour and a half. Again, we were exposed to the blazing sun because a mass was in progress, and we were not allowed inside. When we were finally permitted to enter, we had just 10 minutes to take photos and appreciate the atmosphere. Following this, we were driven to a restaurant for lunch. The food was of very poor quality, and the toilets were filthy. After lunch, we boarded the bus again and were taken to another town, where we had to wait for an hour for the public transport boat to return us to Budapest. The waiting area was chaotic, with people pushing and shoving to get on the boat. The upper deck filled up quickly, so we were forced to sit in an enclosed area with stifling heat, where I nearly passed out. Throughout the entire tour, the guide repeated everything in both English and German, leaving us with hardly a moment of peace. ---
