Momento Park: It worth the trip out of the City - I visited Momento Park in Sept 2024 and was taken on a guided tour by Udith, who works at the main office ( please forgive me if I have spelt your name incorrectly). It was an excellent guided tour as she provided lots of historical background to Hungary and its occupation by the Soviets. It was a rainy cold day but that did not deter Udith from taking me from monument to monument to explain the relevance of each one and the hidden message that some have. After the tour I was able to buy some worthwhile souvenirs while enjoying a hot coffee!!. It's easy to get there from the city center via the metro and bus system ( shout out to the bus system, very reliable network). Momento Park is worth the effort.

The era of the Soviet/communist regime comes alive. - The story of the Soviet and the local communist regime is told via the statue park. To make the most out of it I strongly suggest to take the guided tour. Our very informed and interesting guide , Barbara, made the statues come “alive”,

Excellent Guided tour - This tour was fascinating and brought to life by Esther our guide who had many interesting anecdotes about the statues in the park. She set the scene well with an informative canter through 20th century history of Hungary. Some real life stories from the time of Soviet occupation of Hungary really brought it alive and I am sure we learnt so much more than visiting the park without a guide

Possibly one of the highlights of our trip - This site brought so much depth and human history to our trip. Really a highlight. The guide was amazing! We would not have understoop the depth of the story, the significance without her. Highly reccomend a guided tour. It is a bit out of town but we enjoyed the busride and the oppertunity to see regulal budapestians outside the tourism area.

Fantastic and fascinating! - Fascinating and fantastic in equal measure. The guide was superb and explained what life was like under the communist regime. She bought the statues alive with her stories. Definitely recommended, the bus stops right outside.

Interesting and entertaining - Fascinating engaging and fun (in spite of often grim subjects), Judit gave my son and I (as well as the others on our tour) a really interesting tour through the turbulent 20th century history of Hungary and the statues which defined key moments. The park has been laid out in s thoughtful way to tell the story of the Communist dictatorship and the relationship with the Soviets since WW2 Highly recommended

A Must-Visit: Memento Park Guided Tour with Judy - Memento Park is a remarkable open-air museum that takes you on a historical journey from the First World War to the end of communism in Hungary. Opting for a guided tour elevates the experience significantly. We took a tour in English with Judy. Her expertise and enthusiasm bring the statues and stories of the era to life, offering deep insights into Hungary's complex history.Despite receiving no public funding, Memento Park stands as a vital keeper of history, with each exhibit sharing a piece of Hungary's past. Judy's narratives provide context and understanding, making the tour not just informative but deeply moving. For anyone interested in history, culture, or understanding the impact of communism, this guided tour is essential. Judy's guidance transforms a visit into an educational and inspiring experience, making Memento Park a must-visit destination for a meaningful glimpse into Hungary's historical struggles and triumphs.
