It was 1927 when a Spanish adventurer named Victoriano López Robredo decided to open his first spice business. The following year he decided to move it to a larger and more distinguished premises which he called EL GATO NEGRO.
Famous in Buenos Aires for its spices, coffees and teas, this house maintains the incomparable style of an elegant warehouse intact with its remarkable display and variety of spices, aromatic seeds, condiments, herbs, coffees, teas and packaged products of the best quality.
The coffee is roasted by hand in the same premises and with the same roaster from then.
You can let your imagination fly and dream that you are in Amsterdam or London, although it seems that none of these cities have a business with these characteristics and with this variety of assortment. Its reputation and clientele are international.
The place was declared a Site of Cultural Interest by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and a Notable Bar by the Commission for the Protection and Protection of Notable Cafes, Bars and Confectioneries of the City.
