- Cementerio de la Recoleta - The Recoleta Cemetery is a renowned burial ground in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Situated in the Recoleta neighborhood, it houses the graves of many notable individuals. It is a major tourist attraction, celebrated for its numerous grand mausoleums and vaults adorned with marble and sculptures. Its architectural significance reflects the era when Argentina was an emerging economic power in the late 19th century, and affluent families began relocating to Recoleta, constructing magnificent pantheons in the cemetery. Many of its mausoleums and vaults were designed by prominent architects, with over 90 declared National Historic Monuments. The cemetery itself has been recognized as a National Historical Museum since 1946.
- El Ateneo Grand Splendid - Ateneo Grand Splendid is a bookstore located in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It is notable for being housed in the former Grand Splendid Theatre, retaining the original architecture while being adapted into a bookstore. In 2008, it was named the second most beautiful bookstore in the world by the British newspaper The Guardian, and in 2019, National Geographic declared it the most beautiful in the world.
- Floralis Generica - Floralis Genérica is a metal sculpture located in Plaza de las Naciones Unidas, Avenida Figueroa Alcorta, in Buenos Aires, gifted to the city by Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano (1917-2010). The structure was inaugurated on April 13, 2002, with materials provided by Lockheed Martin Aircraft Argentina. The sculpture is set in the center of a four-hectare park with wooded boundaries, surrounded by paths offering various perspectives of the monument, and positioned above a reflecting pool that serves both aesthetic and protective functions. It represents a large flower made of stainless steel, with an aluminum skeleton and reinforced concrete, reaching towards the sky with its six petals. It weighs 18 tons and stands 23 meters tall.
- Rosedal De Palermo - Located within Parque 3 de Febrero in Palermo, the Rosedal features a collection of over 18,000 roses and a surrounding lake. It occupies land that once belonged to Juan Manuel de Rosas until his defeat in the Battle of Caseros in 1852. Landscape architect Carlos Thays, who also designed the Botanical Garden, Avellaneda Park, and Lezama Park, initiated the project, which was completed by his disciple Benito Carrasco in 1914. Every July, during pruning season, locals and tourists visit gardeners to receive flowers or cuttings for propagating new species. This ensures that in winter, the roses bloom healthily and reach their peak development in October.
- Caminito - Caminito is the most famous pedestrian street in Buenos Aires, known for its vibrant houses and rich historical and cultural significance. Located in the La Boca neighborhood, near the Riachuelo River and just 400 meters from La Bombonera, the Boca Juniors stadium, it is a 150-meter-long curved walkway showcasing significant artistic works.
- Mercado de San Telmo - The market opened in February 1897 to supply food to the influx of immigrants arriving from Europe. The building retains its original internal structure, featuring beams, arches, and metal columns with veneer and glass ceilings. A large dome stands at its center. Designed by Juan Antonio Buschiazzo (1845-1917), the second architect to earn his degree in Buenos Aires, Buschiazzo arrived from Italy at age four and served as Director of Public Works during Torcuato de Alvear’s tenure. He designed banks, hospitals, residences, and government buildings, and was a key figure in the Avenida de Mayo project. In 2000, the market was declared a National Historic Monument by the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires.
- Casa Rosada - This palace, located in front of Plaza de Mayo, serves as the seat of the National Government. The impressive pink building stands on the site of the original Fort of Buenos Aires, established in 1580. It was the residence of Spanish viceroys and later housed the authorities of successive national governments, with some modifications. The current structure is the result of merging two previous buildings: the presidential headquarters and the Palacio de Correos (at the corner of Hipólito Yrigoyen and Balcarce).
- Avenida de Mayo - Inspired by Madrid’s Gran Vía, Avenida de Mayo is one of the largest and most significant thoroughfares in Buenos Aires. It stretches from Plaza de Mayo, with the Casa Rosada at one end, to the National Congress building at the other. Officially opened in 1894, traversing it is like taking a journey through the city’s entire history.
