Highlights
  • Buenos Aires - Begin your 9-hour tour with a drive from your hotel in Buenos Aires to the village of San Antonio de Areco. Enjoy views of the pampas en route and listen to commentary about the area from your guide.
  • Museo Draghi - Paradores Draghi is the ideal corner for those who enjoy the cultural attractions offered by a place. There you will access a tour through the sumptuous space where you can see a vast collection of pieces of rural goldsmithing of the nineteenth century, which reveals the mysteries of a period of national identity consecration of the figure of the Gaucho as a main character of that time.

In Paradores Draghi begin your journey through history not only as a spectator, but also as a participant in the process of making exclusive goldsmith pieces that take shape through the hands of artisans recreating the techniques of traditional goldsmithing as their founder, Juan José Draghi, did in the 60s.

Once you get to the town, you will enjoy a tour of the village including a walk around the historical downtown of the city.

  • Parroquia San Antonio de Padua - Located on Segundo Sombra Street, between Alsina and Arrellano. Don José Ruiz de Arellano founded the first oratory in the center of his stay. The foundation of this oratory was very important for the creation of the town. In the years 1720 and 1728, the first chapel was built, it was located a little more to the right than the current one. The foundation stone of the present church was placed on February 7, 1869 and was buried under the central entrance door. Inside it was placed a lead box containing the original records written on parchment, newspapers of the day, medals and coins of the time.
  • Estancia El Ombu de Areco - Make your way to a Estancia in Buenos Aires in San Antonia de Areco. At this place, you will have a chance to take rides on horses or go for a ride in a carriage while enjoying some traditional cold cuts, cheeses and beverages. Then, you will enjoy a typical Argentinian barbeque of the finest meats. While you have dessert, you will be able to see a folklore show followed by a demonstration of gaucho skills.

Great day outside the city - The day was great fun. Miriam was quite knowledgeable, and had a good attitude. Lunch was spectacular. The gaucho folklore and horse show near the end was weak, though we enjoyed the dancing! The pick up and drop off worked flawlessly. A nice, stress free, way to get out of BA, see the pampas, and explore rural Argentina

Small group gaucho tour by Signature Tours - We booked online and weren’t sure of the collection arrangements. We were able to chat with Signature almost immediately after booking. They were friendly, helpful and informative. Signature picked us up from our apartment around 09h20. The transportation was a large very comfortable bus. Journey time to our first stop was about an hour, a service station with shop that sold leather, silver goods and traditional Argentine wear. I bought a poncho, silver money clip and traditional beret (boina) for about £60. Next stop was San Antonio Da Areco where we visited a silver smith and the local Catedral. Approx half hour spent and back on the bus for a half hour ride to the Estacio (ranch). We were treated to ‘snacks’ and drinks. Best tasting empanadas we have had so far and any choice of drink….wine, beer, soft drinks water etc. A general roam around the farm taking pictures and then off to the horses for saddle up and a gentle walk around the lands. Once back we were treated to a traditional asado meat selection cooked on an open grill served in the restaurant. All absolutely lovely and helped down with local wine. Deserts was either Neapolitan ice cream or flan, delicious is all I can say. After lunch we were treated to live local music with traditional dancing followed by a horse whispering display (remarkable what these people can do with a horse!). It was then time to leave so back on our comfy bus and the journey back to our apartment. Our guide for the tour, Maria Josephina was absolutely lovely and gave great info across all the journey. When we wanted more wine she’d sort it, any questions she either knew the answer or searched it out for us. Top marks for a great experience, highly recommended.

Enjoyable and Tummy filling experience - I am a Solo traveller and joined a group tour with others. We were with a lovely tour guide Ailyn, very knowledgeable about sharing the beauty of Argentinian history and culture with us. Make sure not to eat too much in the morning before the tour as youll have loads of meal at Estancia in San Antonio De Areco around Lunch👌 I was looking forward on horse ride though the one i got was misbehaving when we started and needs to be tied to one of the guy's from trek support horse, luck wasnt on my side but i enjoy the 30 mins ride it was a very easy trek in a flat field. If in case you notice ur horse werent behaving just ask them to change it for you.
