Highlights
  • El Once Barrio Comercial - The Jewish area is our little Brookline. It’s located In the heart of the garment district. In the past, 30% of the Jewish population of Buenos Aires was established all over the area. Today it is full of Kosher shops, and orthodox congregations where Sephardic Jews as well as Ashkenazi Jews live in harmony with their non-Jewish neighbors.
  • Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina - We will see the building of the Jewish Federation on the outside (we don’t get inside) and the mural that was painted on its side wall to remember the terrorist attack suffered in 1994.
  • Museo Judio - Uniquely, this museum narrates the stories of the immigrants, our traditions, and the Jewish colonies. Committed to transmitting what is characteristic of the Jewish people, we present an interactive tour through a permanent collection in constant dialogue with the present aiming to create a link between the exhibition and interpretation.

Admission ticket: 10 USD per person (not included)

  • Plaza de Mayo - The main park of Buenos Aires is located next to the Pink House, the presidential palace. An homage to the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo is located in the center of the park. We will take this opportunity to speak about the Jewish “desaparecidos” in 1976.
  • Plaza Israeli Embassy - Memorial Park where it was located the former Israeli Embassy was destroyed by a terrorist attack in 1992.
  • Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral - A memorial to the Holocaust victims is placed inside the main cathedral of Argentina.

Additional Information

Visit the Jewish Buenos Aires with a local Jewish historian whose field of expertise is on Jewish Argentinian History. Buenos Aires hosts a Jewish community of 150,000 persons. With this tour you will visit the Jewish area, synagogues, and the Jewish Museum, and will learn about the history of Jewish immigration to Argentina, the immigration of the Jewish Holocaust survivors to Argentina, Argentina, and the Holocaust, among other subjects. Although we have a car and a driver available all the time, I recommend having a little walk around the Jewish area, so you get the vibe. On Saturdays synagogues and the Jewish Museum are closed to visitors, so it’s not possible to access. On Sundays there is a change in the itinerary because The Jewish Museum and Libertad Synagogue are closed, so we replace them with the ND Ateneo, a beautiful library that was built by Max Glücksman, a Jewish immigrant who brought the cinema to the country.
