Amazing homage to Astor Piazzolla and traditional tango - Excellent performance that's under-recommended, perhaps because they don't pay for affiliate links. Included 4 or 5 Piazzolla nuevo tango pieces, plus some film footage of the master playing bandoneon. (There's a subtly-integrated background video/light show.) The rest was traditional tango music, but its rendering felt contemporary, not something playing through a 1920s Victrola. The dancing was jaw-droppingly accomplished, acrobatic, and sensuous, including both tango and modern dance. The performers are 6 couples, with 1 couple serving as impresarios. Great 6-piece band (2 violins, 2 bandoneons, piano, upright bass). Singers front the band with solo songs during costume changes. The elegant theater looks huge in photos, but it's actually quite intimate. Dancers come forward do dance in the front loges, and singers walk right into the audience with cordless mics. This is in the basement of Galería Güemes, a Milan-style 1959 shopping arcade at Florida 165, a few walkable blocks from Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada. We booked the show only, no dinner or hotel transfer. But we arrived early, and were offered an à-la-carte food and drinks menu. Outstanding deals (quoted in U.S. dollars) on well drinks. The space can be cool in Argentine winter (June–August), so dress in layers.

Worth doing - Show was good and entertaining. While not our favorite food of trip, it was still quite tasty, especially given how many people they were serving and the speed in which they had to do it. Lots of meal and beverage choices. Be prepared to speak Spanish or you may just end up eating and drinking what they think is best. Worth the money and your time if coming to Buenos Aires.

A Must-See Buenos Aires Experience - The show was great with a variety of dancers, songs and musicians. Everyone had a good seat but I was blessed with a party of tall people right in front of me. The direction re-seated us so we had a perfect view of the stage. What they say about Argentine beef is true. The steak was probably the best I ever ate. Just my own opinion, but some of the women's costumes were a bit too skimpy for my taste, but maybe you wouldn't agree with that. I chose this particular show hoping to hear more accordion since it is named after the famous Aster Piazzolla, whose accordion is on display in the entryway. There was a pretty good amount of that totally Argentinian accordion and bandoneon music. While I truly enjoyed this performance, I probably would not go again because they say each venue puts its own spin on the Tango experience and I'd love to see more. My traveler tip is to wait until you get to Buenos Aires, go to the box office to get your tickets and be sure to pay in pesos. With the exchange rate being so favorable right now to the dollar, it made our night out vastly less less expensive than if we had charged it. This goes for Teatro Colon, city tours and other canned experiences too. I was in shock to see how more our simple lunch at one restaurant ended up costing in dollars than most places we eat at in the states because I charged it and the credit card company did not give a favorable rate of exchange.

Borring - We booked tickets for this show without dinner option, and were scheduled to start 9.30 pm. We arrived in good time, got our seats in the fine theatre and waited, waited waited when finaly the show started 10.15 pm. The show is variations over the same dance and after two dances you have seen it all. The music continues in the same track. What a waste of time and money. The show last only 50 minutes, you pay for your drinks and thats it. Dont go - it is borring. Find yourself a bar/restaurant in La Boca instead or watch tango in the street in stead and save your pesos.

Bad food and the shuttel didnt arrive - We waiting for 1 hour and 30 min for the shuttel car to arrive, in the end we had to take a cab. The food was not very good. You can get much better food for less money some other place in Buenos Aires. Everyone were stressing around and the even took away our drinks before we were finished. The tango show started at 10 30 pm and was ok. Not happy.
