Plaza de Mayo - The May Square is the oldest square in Buenos Aires and the scene of most of the most important political events in Argentina’s history. In the center of the square is the Pyramid of May, a monument built in 1811 to celebrate the first anniversary of the Revolution, and renovated in 1856 by the artist and architect Prilidiano Pueyrredón. Between the Pyramid of May and the Government House, is located the monument to Manuel Belgrano, creator of the national flag.
