Making a Splash at Perth’s Outback Splash: A Family Adventure in Bullsbrook
As a family travel writer, I couldn’t resist the allure of Perth’s Outback Splash in Bullsbrook. With its vibrant colors and exciting attractions, it promised a day of fun for the whole family. Here’s how our adventure unfolded.
A Splashing Start to Our Day
As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for exciting new adventures that promise fun for the whole family. So when I heard about Perth’s Outback Splash in Bullsbrook, I knew it was a must-visit. Just a short 30-minute drive from the last Mitchell Freeway North exit, the journey was a breeze. The vibrant colors of the park were visible from the road, and my kids’ excitement was palpable as we approached.
We arrived early, eager to explore the parklands. The grounds were beautifully adorned with native Australian flora, making it an ideal spot for a family picnic. But the real star of the show was the Giant Jumping Pillow. Covering over 220m2, it was a hit with my kids, and we found ourselves returning to it multiple times throughout the day. It’s a fantastic way for kids of all ages to burn off some energy and have a blast.
Waterslide Wonderland
The main attraction, of course, was the waterslide playground. Currently, stage 1 of a six-stage, AUD$70 million master plan, the playground stands over three stories high and features a variety of slides and interactive water features. My family and I were particularly fond of the family slide, which allowed us to slide down together. For those seeking a bit more speed, picking up a mat made the slides even faster, while younger kids could enjoy a slower pace without one.
The yellow slide quickly became a favorite for my kids, and they returned to it time and again. The waterslides are just one part of the larger park, which offers a plethora of activities to keep everyone entertained. When my daughter Mia got a bit chilly from the water, we decided to tackle the maze. It was a fun challenge, and after getting delightfully lost, we were more than ready to cool off again in the water.
A Day to Remember
One of the things I appreciated most about Outback Splash was the ability to bring our own food. While the on-site café was a bit pricey, as is often the case with tourist destinations, having the option to pack a picnic made the day more affordable. The park’s Mexican theme, combined with its quintessentially Australian name and bush location, made it a unique and memorable experience.
Despite the need for a few more staff members to handle the park’s popularity, I have no doubt that Outback Splash will soon be running smoothly. It’s a fantastic addition to Perth’s attractions, and I can see it becoming a favorite for both tourists and locals alike. With plans for expansion, it’s exciting to think about what the future holds for this iconic Australian attraction. Until then, it’s the perfect spot for a family day out, especially during the summer heat. I can’t wait to return and see how it evolves!
