Exotic Animals in the Nevada Desert. A must see experience. - First, you NEED to make a reservation before going. I never knew we had a ranch with 30 Camels, Alpacas, a Llama, New Guinea Singing Dogs, a Two Toed Sloth, an African Crested Porcupine, a Donkey and a few other animals about an hour outside of Las Vegas. Guy the owner, an amazing bank of knowledge, he knows so much about each animal and more. He is a little rough around the edges and some may think him rude; you try to manage a 176 acre ranch with well over 60 animals who have to be fed daily, not so easy… The Camels have a diet of lettuce, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples; the sloth has a special diet which includes egg whites, the ranch dogs get the yolk as a daily treat and they know when that’s coming. So in addition to taking care of all the animals, the ranch which is 176 acres, there are also tours to manage. So show him a little appreciation for what he does every day, seven days a week, etc… You can do camel rides, an ATV experience, a zoo tour on a tram, it’s not easy and I feel for him so if you go out there, understand his personality has to be rough to deal with all this. Also understand, each animal has its own personality and feelings. Yesterday, Norm a camel used for rides was having a bad day. He was not in the mood for riders. I first tried to ride Norm, he was calm getting his saddle on but once I got on him, he was nope. When Allie got me off of Norm, Norm had an attitude with both Allie and Guy, Norm had to be put in a kennel which Norm was not happy about but needed a time out. So remember, dealing with 30 camels, mini horses, a Llama, Alpacas, a sloth, etc; they are dealing with a lot of different personalities and feelings in addition to people. Safety is taken as a HIGH priority. These animals can inflict pain & even death, so I have a LOT of respect for Guy & Allie. They not only have to be concerned with adults but children as well. We arrived at 8:45 which is when the gate is opened, we met Allie and Guy along with another couple. We rode first and as I said Norm was not happy so I got off and they took my friend around the track. Upon coming back with my friend, a whole group showed up for the zoo tour so we were asked if we minded doing the zoo tour and then we will get back to the camel ride. No biggie… The zoo tour was amazing. We got on the tram and were taken to see every animal on the property stopping in each area, learning all about the animals in that area with the opportunity to ask questions, got to go in the kennel to feed the Llama and Alpacas, cool animals, petted the zebra, fed and petted the porcupine, got up close and personal with the sloth and just had an amazing experience. The knowledge gained yesterday was so cool. Once the zoo tour was over I got to ride Lodi. The camel ride was really cool, long and a really neat experience I would do again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go out and visit this Camel Safari. They need the support as they have a lot of mouths to feed daily and you will have an amazing experience in the Nevada desert.

Amazing Experience!! - This place is an amazing hidden gem! All expectations were exceeded. Had a great time with the camel ride and Zoo tour (more of a wildlife refuge than Zoo). The owner and his staff are super professional, knowledgeable, friendly and caring for their animals. You will see lots of Camels, a Llama (you can feed), Alpacas (you can feed), a Zebra, a Zebra/Donkey, Horses, New Guinea Singing Dogs (you can pet), a Porcupine (that you can feed and pet) and a sloth. This is a MUST DO!!!

There were so many fun... - There were so many fun moments. Loved the camel ride, but it was only part of the experience. Feeding the different animals and being able to pet the really enhanced the experience. And I fell in love with the baby camel.

Camal Safari Outing - The animals were so well cared for and loved by he owner/operator. They returned the love as well. So nice to know of a place that has grown from a single rescue animal to a facility that can take care of many animals in need of rescue, care, and love. Norman, Doug, and Fabio were big statrs. Sophie was pretty special too.

Amazing experience - Exceeded all expectations! It was an amazing experience, educational & really fun. We not only rode camels, we toured the property, stopping for the various animals. We interacted with other Camels, llamas, Alpacas, Zebra, Horses, Singing Dogs, Porcupine & a two toed Sloth. The owner & staff were super helpful and extremely friendly! A very relaxed atmosphere and never felt rushed.

Camels and UTV - Trip was beginning of January. It was cold but very fun. We ended up doing the camel ride and UTV ride. Wouldn’t mind coming back when it is warmer so we can get into the river (with UTV ride). The camels we rode on were Jafar and Norman. Norman was very sweet and we were able to pet, brush, and interact with him. He later galloped along side as we drove UTVs. Really great experience. Staff were super knowledgeable and friendly.

Extraordinary desert adventure - This is an amazing place and worth checking out. The camel ride is very cool and staff are the best. We learned so much about camels and the other unique critters - the New Guinea singing dingos, African porcupine, and 2 toed sloth and lots of others. We were able to get up close and hands on. The view from atop Jafar, a beautiful and sweet Bactrian camel, is incredible with the desert and mountains as a backdrop. Can’t wait to visit again!

A Great Experience - Camel Safari gives you alot more access to the animals than a regular zoo does, much less formal, you are able to do alot more...The Staff Jake & Casey as well as the older gentlemen who narrated the tour were outstanding, the really gaved you personal service. Also very educational for kids, although I believe kids have to be atleast 12 to ride the camels. It is certainly worth the hour drive from Vegas, and there are good very cheap hotels just 10 minutes away in Mesquite. We are doing a video in 4 weeks
