A great intro to Yanaka with a friendly and instructive guide - Hina was an instructive and joyful guide. We learned quite a bit about Shinto while visiting a local shrine, took a break to paint our lucky cats, and maybe spent too much money at the local shopping area. There are many shops there that have been open a very long time. The bamboo craft shop I bought a few things at has been in the family for four generations. If you're lucky, you might get to chat with the owner. I highly recommend this tour to anyone and I hope to try another when i visit Osaka. Thanks for a one-of-a-kind experience!

No history on this history tour - The guide didn’t seem to know anything about the area and carried a binder to reference which he literally read word for a word for the few pieces of information he shared. We joined the tour in the hopes to learn about the architecture and the history of the neighborhood, but instead all we had was someone pointing out this is an old style building, which was obvious just by looking at it.

Bored to tears - Absolutely boring! We learned virtually nothing while walking at a snail’s pace through the neighborhood. We had Kenji, and Kenji read from an orange book of plasticized pages. I was asked to slow down, because we would arrive too early a place wherei learned we would be painting a cat. After 90 minutes, we called it quits and learned that we would be doing more slow walking to get to the cat to spend an hour painting. There are much better ways to spend your afternoon than on this tour .
