If you like culture then you need to book this - Miguel is an amazing tour guide! He’s extremely knowledgeable and funny and makes you feel part of his family and then we have Raymond our driver we give a massive shout out to him for getting us around in a very safe manner. You can take amazing scenic photos from the countryside to the city. If you want to learn more about Dominican culture, this is the tour for you. It’s filled with plantations, villages, cigar rolling, coffee, tea, and cocoa tasting. A delicious, authentic Dominican lunch is provided at Maria’s and is so tasty, at Maria’s many natural things are available for purchase at great prices, so bring your spending money. I can highly recommend the natural insect repellent a product that’s works as long as you don’t have a nut allergy. If you like culture then you need to book this 110%. We booked through trip advisor.

Very informative and fun! - Amado is the best tour guide! He’s very knowledgeable, personable, and funny. Take breathtaking scenic photos from the countryside to the city. If you want to learn more about Dominican culture, this is the tour for you. It’s filled with plantations, villages, cigar rolling, coffee, tea, and cocoa tasting. A delicious, authentic Dominican lunch is provided at Maria’s. Many things are available for purchase at great prices, so bring your spending money. Enjoy Macao Beach, but be careful of merchants trying to sell you ridiculously over priced jewelry and other items.

A great way to spend a day! - Our guide Gregory was special! He was quite knowledgeable and entertaining. He sat with each little group on our vehicle and had a long conversation. Gregory made our experience fun and informative. He shared his local knowledge from plants, tobacco, rum, and chocolate to their system of education, healthcare, and politics. We stayed engaged in this fun look into the Dominican culture with Gregory.

An incredible day! - Our host, Angel and our driver, Felix were fabulous! The tour was beautiful and very informative. Maria’s home and plantation were our favorite part of the day. Being able to eat right there was an added bonus.

Peasant and Heritage Culture - It was a good experience, to get to know a little more of the peasant life, to tour the municipality of Higüey , The Basilica of Alta Gracia, to finish the tour on the beach of Macau. It would have been a better experience , when we were left forgotten at the Hotel pickup for more than 1 hour and 30 minutes, so we passed through some places of interest like the Basilica of Alta Gracia , very quickly, without appreciating its real cultural and heritage interest.

Absolutely waste of time - Absolutely wasted time. It is only a tour in which they want to sell their expensive products. First we went to a “sugar cane and tobacco plantation”. They don’t to tell you much how they grow the crops. Also they show you only the rolling of the cigars. Nothing to see how the tabacco fermentation process is done. Then you into the shop for alcohol and cigars (expensive). After that you go to a “cocoa and coffe plantation”. This not a plantation , only a garden. They tell you something about the coffee and cocoa production. But again you don’t get the whole picture. Only half of the process is told. After that again they want sell their products. E.g. the coffee is double the price for organic and fair trade coffee in Germany.
