Lots of fun for a first timer! - Never went deep sea fishing before. First mate and captain were really helpful. Nice tour of the harbor and surrounding waters. We stopped a few times to fish, catching a bunch of Mackerol and 1 Pollock. First mate gutted the fish and showed us how to filet them. End up grilling them for dinner! Watch out for line tangling!

Great time! - My family and I really enjoyed our time fishing. The only thing I would recommend to the boat’s captain is to keep the boat stationary while the lines are in the water. Moving too much caused some entanglements. Other than that, I’d highly recommend the experience.

A very good time - The trip was enjoyable. The captain found us several sites to fish. It was a little "choppy" and we moved to a different site with better weather conditions. We didn't catch anything big but my niece and nephew enjoyed themselves.

Not a good experience for us!! - Unfortunately, booking was canceled. No explanation provided. Overall, communication was appallingly non-existent.

Fun but long - We went on a day of overcast and extreme waves. So fishing with tons of waves is a bit scary for a novice in deep sea fishing. Needless to say, a few of us weren't feeling great and it was a 3 hour expedition. Everyone caught a good amount of mackerel but it got repetitive as the captain took us to different spots. Also, lines were crossed several times. The guide and captain were helpful and friendly though. The captain pointed out some seals as we travelled!

Dont expect to catch anything - Went out around dinner time and the crew told us the boat was very full in the am and everyone was catching fish. we went out with 1 other couple 4 total people on the boat and no fish were caught. Waste of time.

Very disappointed - Let’s start by saying this boat is not big enough to handle 24 people fishing on it, shame on this company for that. Before I get to the heart of the problems with this tour I want to point out how helpful the first and second mate were. The captain was another story. We made our first stop just outside the harbour and we were catching fish, but he then decided to move and luckily we hit fish again. We were catching nice size red cod, mackerel and pollack. But for some unknown reason he wants to move again. That was it, for the final hour and a half we moved around instead of staying on the fish. But one thing that was annoying was that he kept twisting the boat around instead of keeping the nose in the swell, and of course with 24 lines out it was continuous tangles. To make matters worst he kept the boat moving to fast, it was impossible to get you line to the bottom. This captain is obviously not a fisherman. People were getting fed up and I made a comment but he just closed the cabin door and ignored us. Also, many people weren’t catching as much as us when we were on the fish because we cut up some Mackerel for bait, this is something that should be a part of the excursion. This charter is leaving a sour taste with tourists and it upsets me being a local. My advice is to skip this tour and go to Lunenburg, the charter there is cheaper, same size boat and they only put 14 people on the boat and they constantly cut up bait for everybody to use.

Very Disappointed! - They left a phone message the night before our scheduled activity to let us know the boat would be out of the water for maintenance...very sorry they said...now what do we do? We stopped by their office because a walk on the boardwalk was part of our schedule. We asked about a refund but they said it’s up to Tripadvisor to refund us since they’re holding our money. I can’t figure out how to get a refund from Tripadvisor so now i’m doubly upset! I will never book anything with Murphy’s Sailing Tours again...don’t tell me they don’t know when their boats are scheduled for maintenance well in advance! Additionally, unless Tripadvisor gives me a full refund (we couldn’t have been the only people who got a cancellation so they should be aware of what happened by now), I won’t be using their services again either.
