Our snowshoes are private, you will NOT be paired up with other hikers.

Snowshoe Description:
Enjoy a guided 5.0km (2.5-3.0hrs) snowshoe atop the Niagara Escarpment that will take you through a peaceful, mature, mainly deciduous forest en route to and from the majestic Singhampton Caves.

The caves are less visited in the winter, are easier to navigate with the snow leveling out the ground, and the contrast in colors between the snow, caves, and sparkling ice-covered walls is spectacular. The caves are open to the sky for those uneasy with tight spaces.

After exploring the caves, we will stop to enjoy a hot chocolate before heading back to the starting location.

What to bring:
Water and snacks, appropriate boots and clothing, based on the weather forecast.

Nottawasaga Bluffs Caves tour vs. the Singhampton Caves tour:
If you are considering which caves tour to book; the Singhampton caves are all open, have taller walls making them more grandeur. The Nottawasaga Bluffs main caves are less numerous, but side caves offer more closed/underground discovery options and a larger lookout point.

What's Included
  • Snowshoes and crampons (spikes that slip onto your boots)
  • Guide: Visit us at stepitupadventures.ca to read our guides’ biographies
  • Headlamp

Our hikes are private, you will NOT be paired up with other hikers.

Minimum 2 person for this tour.

What makes this activity unique is that our team gives you the ability to explore the Singhampton caves in the winter, a destination usually only visited in the summer. The contrast between the caves walls, snow and ice is an incredible sight to behold.

Additionally, your guide will customize your experience based on your interests. All guests will experience the same trail entering and exiting the caves, but your guide will customize your exploration of the caves based on your abilities and interests.

After working up an appetite on your hike we encourage you to try out one of our local establishments such as the Mylar & Loretta’s Restaurant, a historic building in the hamlet of Singhampton.

wonderful winter hiking - The views in the snow cave are stunning. Going uphill during the winter season may require a little more effort but Sue is very friendly and helpful with us along the way. Over we had a great time together.

Great hike with great advice about gear. - This was a great hike; the leader was knowledgeable and set a comfortable pace. I would book with her again. She not only knows the area well she has knowledge about equipment and planning backwoods trips. One great take away for me was where to get a better set of crampons for my boots. The ones she lent me were perfect and much better than the pair I had been using.

Off the beaten path! - Awesome tour. We both are new to snowshoeing, Lisa and Sue were patient and helpful, we didn’t feel rushed at all and our trip took longer than our booking cause we are new. The tour was so worthwhile! Beautiful views/pics, the girls are so knowledgeable about tour location and true adventurists! Very fun to be around, I would highly recommend!

Singhampton Caves - It was a great hike and the views were awesome, but what made the experience exceptional were the guides Lisa and Sue. They were very accommodating and provided interesting context throughout the journey. They made my whole family feel safe!
