Playa Bachatta, Puerto Plata - La playa Bachatta is a 3.5 star hotel in Puerto Plata. Very close to Amber Cove where you can see the cruise ships. I admit that it is impressive to see the ships entering the port from backwards. Value for money, the Bachatta is a site which offers good food, very clean places and a beach with coconut trees which provide shade. The service is slow but everything ends up being done in time. It's not all positive, but when you know what to expect, the disappointments are less great. The beach: It is best to have beach shoes, there are waves and the snorkeling is interesting. You have to get up early to reserve chairs which are impossible to find after 9am. The rooms: although they are not up to date, they are clean. The big plus is that there is a mosquito net on the patio door. Each room has a terrace or balcony. The beds are ok in terms of comfort nothing more, same thing for the pillows. There is only a light sheet on the bed and you have to request for an extra blanket. The mini fridge is stocked every 2 days but it is always possible to get water at reception. A la carte restaurant reservations are made on Sundays... Let's admit that this is not the best way since several beautiful hours are lost waiting. IN fact, the buffet outperforms a la carte restaurants. Let's talk about the buffet, the hotel was full, there were often no plates and we had to wait. Knowing that 6:30 p.m. is the opening time of the buffet for dinner, I understood that if I went there around 7:30 p.m. there was just as much food, the lines were shorter and I no longer had to wait for the plates. Finally there seems to be a problem with changing towels. When you want a change of towels you should expect to be patient to have clean towels which will arrive in the room around 5 p.m. The poor housekeepers get harassed by customers when in fact their day can't end until they get the towels. So, they are victims of this lack. Besides these small inconveniences, I had a very nice vacation (14 days) at Bachatta. Thank you Ramon for your good humor and your humor, thanks to you the lunches were joyful.
