Just do it! - My wife and I chose the two introductory dive pkg. I am a seasoned diver, she had dove in Jamaica and Thailand. The staff gave a very thorough and informative explanation of what was happening and what we would see. Having past experience, I was impressed and my wife was quite comfortable with the briefings. We dove two reefs, with the opportunity to snorkel as well. Timings were met. The craft was quite comfortable. The lunch, coffee tea and water, snacks were excellent. The hot showers on board were refreshing. We dove in groups of three or four to instructor. Safety was always paramount. Carlos the photographer took amazing photographs, ensuring to get individuals and couples, as well as beautiful reef pics. They were able to be reviewed and purchased on the trip back to the marina. Special thanks to our guide Sol! Also to Gabriel whom appeared to be everywhere and a wealth of information. Thanks to all for a great excursion!

So much fun!! - What an incredible experience. Def felt safe snorkelling (as a non swimmer). Very professional and attentive crew members/divers made sure our safety was number one priority. Very much a once in a lifetime experience.

100% awesome experience - Absolutely wonderful crew. Very knowledgeable and attentive. It was so wonderful to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef and see all of the sights from fish to turtles and corals of all colours. Would definitely do this again.

10/10 would recommend - The Divers Den crew was incredible and the views of the great barrier reef did not disappoint! Our introductory dive guide Gabriel was amazing and extremely patient while teaching us on our first ever dive. We also had ample time to snorkel after each dive which was awesome. The crew photographer took some amazing photos for purchase which was an unexpected bonus! Definitely recommend.

Took Great Care of Us Seniors !! - Snorkeling guide assigned to us (74 year olds) at-risk seniors were very helpful and made an excellent effort to make sure we had a rewarding trip. We could have used a bit more briefing on what to expect and look for in the water. Staff managed getting us to the two dive sites, preparing 40 people to go diving and snorkeling and then leading the expedition in somewhat rough waters in an outstanding mater for both the morning and afternoon sites. Food was well prepared and plentiful. Overall very nice trip. John & Diane Mc

Fun but snorkeling is very challenging in rougher waters - It was very choppy the day we went but generally I think snorkeling does not offer as good an experience as scuba diving. I recommend either getting certified before you go or plan to sign up for beginner dive group.

Be wary of the intro dive… - I have to say that I was extremely disappointed in the intro dive portion of the trip. I specifically added that because reviews said that they were patient with people who were nervous… I found it to be quite the opposite. On top of the process feeling rushed (we were in the water for a total of maybe 3 minutes before plunging in), I got stuck in a group with two people who had already gone, so it felt as though the other two of us were being pushed to get on with it. I know of others who went in that felt uncomfortable with the pace at which it went. I instantly swallowed a bunch of water and instead of checking if I was okay, I was kind of just shoved out, and the instructor seemed annoyed. It’s unfortunate, because at first I felt really comfortable with the instructor. The snorkeling portion was decent, and the food was alright but not enough for everyone to be full from. Unfortunately, I can’t say that I’d recommend this tour.

More reef TLC needed - Boat 5/5 Gear 5/5 Lunch 4/5 Personnel 3,5/5 Diving 3/5 This was my bucket list thing. I had huge expectations, but unfortunately they weren't entirely met. The idea of letting people dive at the protected Great Barrier Reef without a guide (guard more likely) was disappointing. I would think that the people working at the reef should protect it by all means! That would mean not letting people dive there on their own, at least before making sure they can and will respect the fragile nature.. I saw many contacts with the corals.. that should not happen! And the fact that it was in a way even encouraged to dive without a guide (guide costing extra), was disappointing. The visibility was approx 10m, and not so many sea creatures as I would have thought. At least the corals were alive here, but not as colorful as in most other tropical areas. We had a briefing before the dive, and a summary after. Nice! Other than those, the personnel didn't really interact with us customers. Anyways. I was happy I could cross this off from my bucket list, when the reef is still alive.. But I prefer other diving sites, if the mentality in protecting this does not change.

Avoid Divers Den - The dive excursion was not on par with most other places around the globe from my many diving experiences. The biggest negative was the money grab from the tour operator, Divers Den. It wasn’t clearly spelled out on the Viator excursion booking but there are additional fees if you plan to dive with a guide. The dive guide seemed more focused on herding everyone through each dive as quickly as possible rather than identifying interesting things along the way. It was rushed and both of my dives ended with more than 1,100 psi of air in my tank that started with 2,000 psi. At the end of the trip you can expect to encounter aggressive attempts to pay for unauthorized photos of your dive at exorbitant prices…so if you want photos bring your own camera. Overall the experience was well below my expectations. If you’re planning a diving excursion to the Great Barrier Reef out of Cairns, my strong advice is the search for a much better tour operator than Divers Den.
