Nice day on the reef despite rain - Despite the monsoon weather, Bei and his team (Louie and Matt) made the best of it and showed us a lovely day. The visibility on the reef was great and we saw tons of fish, beautiful coral and a sea turtle peaceful swimming about the reef. Matt and Louie were very attentive to everyone, knowledgeable about the reef and helpful. Our excursion to Dunk Island was short as it was pouring. Bri continued to check in and collectively we made decisions about how long to stay, etc. I’m grateful for Bri’s experience and expertise.
Notwithstanding the above, anyone booking the tour from Cairns should know there is almost a 2 hour bus ride to and from this tour. It was not explixitly mentioned and would have been good to know. I would have still booked and recommend this tour but good to know what is involved up front. Long day but beautiful to experience the reef. Saw NO Other boats out as Bri has. License for Beaver Reef and Dunk Island. I would rather have the large commute and go to an exclusive part of the reef. Much was nice, definitely not gourmet. Lovely fruits offered as well.

Best Experience Of My Life - This was, hands down, the best experience of my life. I hesitated to book this snorkeling excursion because of the low number of overall reviews (40) compared to other snorkeling excursions, but Dunk Island Reef Adventures has a 5-star rating, so I decided to book it.
I LOVED this experience so much. The captain picked my friends and me up at our hotel and provided an educational bus ride about Cairns. The two snorkeling excursions were fantastic; I saw many different sea creatures and loved exploring Dunk Island. We were provided with clean and in great-condition snorkeling masks, goggles, fins, and wetsuits. The food was also amazing! We were given muffins and tea, fresh and local fruit, homemade chicken burrito wraps, provided my friend with a vegetarian option, and cheese and crackers towards the end. I especially liked how the crew was extremely friendly and helpful.
Overall, I loved how the tour was an all-day excursion and how it was a small group vs large amounts of people. If you are thinking about booking it, 100% do it. It would be significantly better than any other reef tour you're looking at.

Great experience! - I went with a group of friends and we all had a great time! The snorkeling was great and we saw a turtle and a sting ray. Food was also good and staff was super friendly and helpful! Dunk Island was also fun, we spent about an hour there where we were able to explore the island a bit.

Epic and wonderful - awesome reef and island - What a great day today. We had some great snorkelling with fishes, turtles and a reef shark! Louis the guide was excellent and share some great facts about the marine life. Weather turned a little sour so we headed to Dunk Island a little early and had extra time there. Great seas, seas a little bumpy but all Ok - and we were all taken care of by the crew. Epic trip from Cairns and well worth the drive - very scenic and beautiful to Mission Beach. Definitely recommend.

11/10 would recommend - This was an amazing experience with great food, local fruit, and a very friendly staff. Snorkeling in the coral reefs was a once in a lifetime experience and I would highly recommend you choose this tour in particular (no, I’m not being paid to say this, it was just an amazing experience, especially for the price!)

Awesome day of snorkeling and Dunk island - Awesome day on the reef! You don’t realise how time flies when snorkeling on the reefs that we went to - stunning variety of fish, coral, clams, star fish, sea cucumber, turtles and even a manta! The stop over to explore Dunk Island on the way back was a great way to finish the day. Brian took excellent care of us from pickup to drop off, the boat crew - Matt & Luis - looked after us all in the reef. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience!

Just ok - This trip was just ok! We had gone on a different excursion the day before this one, so we had something to compare to! The staff didn't seem to care about the snorkeler's in the water! Just an all around different attitude with this company!

“Bry’s Boat of Misery: A Cautionary Tale” - Let me start by saying I almost never leave bad reviews. But what happened on this trip was so catastrophic, so mind-bogglingly awful, I feel like it’s my civic duty to warn the masses. If I don’t, who will? I’d lose sleep knowing I let another poor soul book this nightmare experience.
The day of the snorkeling trip, it was a little rainy and windy—not ideal, but nothing that screamed “horrific disaster.” We checked the weather, and it seemed like things would stay that way all day. We even considered canceling, but we figured the company would have the good sense to cancel if conditions were truly bad. After all, these people are supposed to be the professionals, right? Wrong. So, so wrong.
When we boarded the bus and again when we got on the boat, Bry (the captain) gave us a motivational speech about how 90% of the time, the weather clears up and it ends up being a beautiful day. Oh, Bry, you charlatan. The weather wasn’t too terrible on land, but as soon as we hit the water, it was like stepping into the gates of hell.
Let me set the scene: Before even getting on the bus, I took one seasickness pill—being cautious, you know? Then, I took another one 30 minutes before boarding the boat. Then, a third pill about 10 minutes into the boat ride. THREE PILLS. How much Dramamine do I need to take? And I still threw up after that! My friends all took at least one or two pills, too, and let me tell you, it didn’t matter.
There were 16 passengers on the boat, plus two crew members and Bry. Out of the 16 passengers, 12 were throwing up their guts. And some of the others looked like they were praying for the sweet release of death. Waves were slamming against the boat so hard they went over the windows, and water was leaking inside like the Titanic 2.0. The two crew members deserve medals—no, statues in their honor—for how they darted around with barf bags and the trash can, catching puke like some kind of sick Olympic sport. At one point, the trash can tipped over, spilling its contents back into the chaos like some sick, vomit-themed horror show. It was truly the stuff of nightmares.
The smell, the sound, the sheer chaos—it was like a scene straight out of Dante’s Inferno, with Bry at the helm, zipping through waves like he was trying to win a speedboat race. We kept asking the crew how much longer this torture would last, but they had no clue either. It was clear they were just as lost as we were, while Bry barreled ahead with zero regard for the carnage below him.
Now, here’s the kicker: the trip we booked was supposed to include two snorkeling spots and lunch on an island. We did get a nice lunch on the island—I’ll give them credit for that—but we only went to one snorkeling spot instead of two. When I say “nice lunch,” though, I mean it was nice in comparison to the traumatic vomit carnival we had just escaped. It could’ve been a handful of stale crackers, and I’d still call it gourmet.
At first, I tried to give Bry the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he didn’t realize how bad the weather would be. Maybe this was all an innocent mistake. But then we asked for a partial refund since we only got half of what we paid for. And what did Bry say? He said no. Not only that, he blamed us for not knowing the weather conditions. Excuse me? If the boat had sunk, I’m pretty sure Bry would’ve blamed us for being too heavy.
Bry takes no responsibility for his actions and couldn’t care less that his passengers had one of the worst days of their lives. He’s the kind of person who would bake you a birthday cake and forget the sugar, then tell you it’s your fault for not liking it.
Do yourself a favor: do not book this tour. Unless, of course, you want an unforgettable story to tell your therapist.
