Highlights
  • Captain Cook Highway - Continue the journey north along one of the most picturesque coastal drives in the world, stopping at Rex Lookout for views over Trinity Beach and back towards the mountains of the Great Dividing Range.

  • Port Douglas - The next stop is the small seaside village of Port Douglas for short town tour before heading to Mossman Gorge on the southern edge of the Daintree World Heritage area. Here you’ll enjoy morning tea in the New Mossman Gorge Centre.

  • Mossman Gorge - Enjoy a morning tea of freshly baked damper (scones) served with Local Jams, Coffee & Tea. Board a shuttle bus accompanied by your Naturalist or Eco/World Heritage accredited guide and head up to the national park for a guided walk in dense tropical rainforest. Enjoy the views over the huge granite boulders and crystal clear waters of the Mossman River. If time and weather permits you will be able to refreshing swim.

  • Daintree Teahouse Restaurant - Heading further north and passing the sugar cane fields of North Queensland, stop for delicious lunch at the Daintree Tea House, the longest-established restaurant in the Daintree area that serves local produce of the highest standards.

  • Daintree River - After lunch, join a small and personalized cruise on the Daintree River. If you are lucky enough, you may even spot the elusive crocodile.

  • Daintree Region - Shortly after, arrive at the Daintree River and board the cable ferry to cross this mighty river. The journey home gives you time to relax and reflect on your day before you are returned to your accommodation.

  • Cape Tribulation Beach - Continue further north, stopping at Marrdja or Jindalbe Boardwalk for a guided walk in one of the most bio-diverse areas in the Daintree Rainforest. From here, head to Cape Tribulation where two World Heritage areas meet – the Rainforest of the Daintree National Park and the Great Barrier Reef.

  • Daintree Ice Cream Company - Leaving Cape Tribulation Beach, venture south back toward The Daintree River, stopping along the way at one of the Daintree Ice Cream Shops for afternoon tea. Here you will have the opportunity to sample locally made ice-cream featuring seasonal fruits of the tropics (at own expense).

  • Mount Alexandra Lookout - Continuing north along winding and picturesque road toward Cape Tribulation. Along the way you’ll see even more wonders of the World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park. A stop at the Alexandra Lookout is an opportunity to look back over the coastal road just traveled and take in the breathtaking views over the Daintree River mouth, Snapper Island and Low Isles.

Great day in the wilderness. - A very good day spent in the lush green wilderness. The ice cream house was excellent & the lunch at The Tea House was first class. Our guide was very good & knowledgeable of the area & environment. The walks on the beach & tracks were easy including a swim. Enjoyed the whole day.

Excellent small group tour with a great guide - We booked the Daintree and Cape Tribulation tour. Being a relatively small group we had plenty of time at the Daintree including the Daintree river cruise, lunch, ice cream and then visiting the Thornton Beach which was the substitute for Cape Tribulation due to the roads still being under repair. We ended with a visit to Mossman Gorge where we had time for a swim. Steve was brilliant as the driver and tour guide. He had great passion for the outdoors and Far North Queensland and his enthusiasm was unabated despite what was a really long day for him! Highly recommended.

Rainforests, beaches, gorges, oh my! - Steve was our tour guide and was very cordial, educational and humorous. He definitely made the time in the bus tolerable! The bus did have a couple seats with large wheel well issues. This made it pretty uncomfortable for those sitting in those seats and the van was full so no alternative. The stops were slightly adjusted due to the cyclone from 2023. However, this did not detract from the experience. We hit the rainforest, saw some crocs, ended up on a beach, had lunch, swam in the gorge area and more. All stops were great and scenic in their own ways. The day is long so probably not idea for younger children. Overall, very nice way to see a variety of highlights in and around the area.

Definitely recommend - Steve really made the tour more interesting thanks to his cheerful attitude and knowledge on so many aspects (history, plants, animals, etc) Definitely recommend if you want to see the Daintree forest and are short in time. Going in a small group is also so much better

A great day! - Jim/James kept us educated and entertained the whole day. Everything ran smoothly - from pick up at the scheduled time to drop off. The Mercedes Sprinter van was air conditioned and comfortable and handled the road and any bumps well. Mossman Gorge, the suspension bridge and morning tea were our first stop. A couple of our group dared a quick swim. The Daintree Teahouse provided a lovely lunch with a dozen different fruits to sample. We enjoyed the cruise along the Daintree River where we spotted 2 female crocodiles and also saw some of the destruction left by the cyclone in December. Next was a quick stop for ice-cream as we kept heading north. From there the tour would usually go a little further to Cape Tribulation, however the cyclone has caused so much damage to the roads the end of the line for us was beautiful Thornton Beach, followed by the long journey back to Cairns. Thanks to Jim/James for a great day!!

very enjoyable - The tour guide was awesome. Very knowledgeable and experienced. Loved the ice Cream in the Daintree, the Daintree Rainforest, River Cruise, lunch at the Daintree Teahouse, and guided walk at Mossman Gorge. Very disappointed that we could not see the go Cape Tribulation. Considering the Cyclone went through LONG before we booked, that part of the itinerary should never been offered.

Good knowledgeable tour - Good tour with a knowledgeable guide. Good lunch stop too. Stops and sights were easy to get to. Only minor issue was it would have been good to hear with more than one day's notice that Cape Tribulation we could not do on tour due to past weather damage. However this did not spoil the tour for me and just means I need to visit again.

Not worth going through Discovery Sustralia to book the Port Douglas tour. Could have done a better job myself. - Early flight arrived at Cairns no meet and greet. At resort 10.45 super tired. Found out resort 5 km out of town. No restaurants, cafes or shopping nearby. Could not enter my accomodation before 3 pm. No pick up and drop of to reef cruise. Needed to book a taxi as too early for public transport and too far to walk. Booked a small tour package deal but found out it was me, myself and I. Worst organised trip ever.
